Thank you very much for the thoughtful service throughout our stay. The highlight was definitely the sea dip by the cliff, which we really enjoyed. The food in the restaurant was perfect, and the view was wonderful. However, I have to point out that the bar and restaurant service felt somewhat disconnected from the accommodation service.
When we arrived at 14:10, we were informed that our room was not ready, which was perfectly fine. However, it would have been a nice gesture to offer complimentary tea or coffee to make guests feel more welcome while waiting, which wouldn't cost the hotel much. Instead, we guided ourselves to the balcony for a coffee. We waited literally 35 minutes for our coffee, while three other tables that arrived after us were served first. The waiter and waitress seemed very young and perhaps lacked experience. When the coffee was finally delivered, the waitress thanked us for our patience, which was a positive way to acknowledge the delay, although no formal apology was given. We were charged 20 euros for the four coffees that we waited so long for while waiting for the room to be ready. I didn’t make a complaint at the time as I didn’t want to spoil the trip.
Our room was not ready until 15:15, and with my elderly parents waiting around, I wasn't impressed. That said, the reception staff, Jane, was very nice and attentive. We really enjoyed the room, the decor, the comfortable bed, the view, and the generous complimentary minibar, which was indeed appreciated.
However, when we were in the restaurant and asked to order the same lemonade from the minibar, we were told that it was only complimentary for the accommodation and not available from the restaurant. There was also no fresh orange juice available to order, even though it is served at breakfast for free. We would have gladly paid €10 for each glass of lemonade. I wonder if the general manager would agree that the lemonade is only for the minibar and not for sale, and that fresh orange juice is only complimentary at breakfast and not available for €8 at dinner.
Honestly, I would have thought that staying guests would be looked after better than dine-in-only customers in the restaurant, but unfortunately, that was not the case. If these can be improved, the hotel would be perfect. I would definitely recommend offering complimentary tea or coffee for hotel guests whose rooms are not ready upon arrival.
