Owner description: “Homolovi” is Hopi for “Place of the Little Hills” — the traditional name for Winslow, Arizona. Homolovi State Park now serves as a center of research for the late migration period of the Hopi from the 1200s to the late 1300s. While archaeologists study the sites and confer with the Hopi to unravel the history of Homolovi, Arizona State Parks provides the opportunity for visitors to visit the sites and use park facilities including a visitor center and museum, various trails and a campground. Several covered picnic tables are located throughout the park. Pullouts provide the opportunity to observe wildlife in this park of over 4,000 acres at an elevation of 4,900 feet.

Was not sure what to expect but it was good. We parked and walked down to the cemetery and read the headstones. Lots of children died very young and this was the first moron settlement. You can only stand there and imagine their struggles. It was very thought provoking. Its a very peaceful place. We went to Homolovi I and there was tons of pottery shards to look at very interesting and also remains of buildings. We never made it all the way around but enjoyed what we saw.

This is a nice place to vist. So quite and out of the way. So close to town yet so quite. You can see the lights and see the cars go by. But you don't hear them. Once your setup you can drive and see the indian ruins, a couple miles away. And the moon was so clear and bright while we stayed. You couldn't have asked for more.

I liked this attraction. While looking at the pottery pieces, you have a wonderful view of the desert. So beautiful! We also saw a jackrabbit. We were the only ones here on a Friday morning. It was quite peaceful. Not far off the interstate, a little history lesson, and only $7.

We were driving around Winslow and saw a sign for this park so decided to check it out. We loved it here. Unfortunately, we didn’t get there until right before closing so we only had a chance to see one of the sites...the furthest one.

A storm was coming in and there were some flurries, which made for stunning scenery. We felt like we were the only people on earth! Lots of pottery shards and felt like a very sacred and holy space.

A great and educational place to visit. Calm and quiet, with open space all around- and Flagstaff’s mountains in the background. Ancient ruins to explore, pottery shards- the evidence of the long gone residents. A nice visitors center. Hiking trails. Clean bathrooms and showers. Very nice!
