Matareva beach fallas are a great place for a camping feeling. You will be given a "fale" a traditional samoan shelta where your bedding will be set up. These fales are right on top of the beautiful natural beach that they have. The fales have drop down coconut weaved curtains which give you some sort of privacy.

Other amenities are to be shared which includes shared washrooms and bathrooms. Coffee and tea are always available overnight at the main loung area free of charge to customers.

Oh and did I mention that the charges are inclusive of dinner and breakfast....

Matareva is a good place for those who are looking for a simple camping experience to fully appreciate the natural surrounding.

The best beach on the island, with the best snorkeling on the island. Stay for a day visit or overnight. The staff & owners are very friendly & helpful, it really feels like your staying with family. You won’t get served dinner or breakfast as good as this at any of the resorts and they are both included in the nightly price. Very reasonably priced and the most beautiful location. Highly recommended

The snorkelling here is stunning and very accessible. The staff (family) are very friendly, charming and hard-working. The food is good and the umu especially delicious. Accommodation and facilities are basic, but very relaxed and charming. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

This place is stunning!
We stayed in a double fale on the beach. Mattress on the floor with a mosquito net - I had 2 great nights sleep. It’s cool and breezy with the sea air and the bed is comfy enough.
Bathrooms just a short walk from the room and main restaurant is central for everyone.
The evening meal and breakfast was lovely but there is better in Samoa. Staff are friendly offering snorkel and flipper rental.
But the setting is amazing, the sand is golden and the ocean is perfect for swimming, snorkelling and a little further out for surfing.
I’d stay here again simply for the beach.
Be aware though that there is a 20 tala charge at the top of the road which is to pay to drive along a 2 mile stretch of gravel, sand and ditches! If you want to go out again be sure to speak to staff to make sure you don’t pay twice!!

My girlfriend and I stayed at Matareva in August for 4 days. What an incredible place. Firstly it is quite a walk from the main road if you do get the local bus down there, took us about an hour to walk with all our luggage, so I recommend getting a taxi/rent a car (car rental is very expensive).
Once we arrived we were welcomed by the amazing staff and owner. Some of the nicest people you will come across. They showed us to our Fale which was unbelievable. 5 metres walk across the beach to the sea, really beautiful inside and out.
Matareva is extremely family orientated, the owners family and children stay at the Fales and they are so polite, funny and kind people. The kids also put on a fire show for us one night.
In the evening theres a really nice buffet at the beach bar (no restaurants nearby, or really anywhere on the islands). Everyone sits around, eats and drinks; really nice community feeling there. Also live music on each night.
The sea and the beach is amazing.
We had an unforgettable few days at Matareva before moving across to Savai'i.
