We enjoyed very much our visit to El Calafate. Roble Sur is a quiet ,clean , small and very couzy hosteria. The heat is wonderful . Mariana: the owner is wonderful : she assisted us in everything ,also orginizing the tours. Also Nicolas at night was very helpful . We enjoyed the fresh orange juice. Was wonderful.

Based on ratings we went for this place. Unfortunately, the room had a stained dusty carpet. There were hairs in the bathroom and dust everywhere. This room was not properly cleaned in a long time.
The inner courtyard/ garden, was also a big mess. It does not take much to organize a bit. (And the stuff laying around was not from recent construction. Just mess)
The location is also out of town in a shabby neighborhood.
Not a great pick

the Hosteria is situated a little further (a 20 minutes walk) from the center making it a very quiet and relaxing place to stay.
the staff is very nice and helpful. they information provided by them upfront of our stay enabled us to exactly plan our stay in regards of the trekking tours, the lunch boxes (organized by the staff) and everything else.
the room was very clean and comfortable. We'd book a room at Hosteria Roblesur anytime again!

When we first arrived here our hopes weren't high as we were probably given the least desirable room (first one off the lobby) and had just come from a luxury "yurt camp". But the people who work here were so lovely to us that the place itself seemed less important. It was clean and everything worked so it met our needs. I've read about wi-fi issues but they must have been resolved before our visit as I'm a heavy user and didn't experience and difficulties. One night I had an upset stomach and the manager even made me a bowl of white rice which was the only thing I wanted! My friend and I both got confused on the instructions walking to town and tended to take local, inexpensive cabs which the hotel is happy to call for you. It would have been nice to have in-room temperature control as we had to leave a ground floor window open to cool the room but felt perfectly safe doing so. I'm fairly sure there were much nicer rooms - perhaps upstairs. But the helpfulness of the staff and their consistent desire to help our stay in El Calafate go well went beyond and limitations of the property.

Room Tip: Ask to be upstairs

We stayed here for 2 night and overall had a good experience.

Owner: was very helpful and patient and helped organise our 1 1/2 day tour and was always there to answer questions for us. She recommended a few local restaurants which were fine.

Accommodation: this was very spacious and all the amenities were available in the room, we have been accustomed to smaller rooms in Argentina but this was a lovely change.

Amenities: breakfast was good, they have food menu through the day which I did not try, they had a computer which you could use and lounge area and garden. The only issue was wifi and in room 103 despite being able to see the Internet, we could in fact never connect. The owner said that she was having trouble that day to connect too, however, given the previous reviewer also having the review, this seems to be a bigger problem and would need to be fixed. The wifi downstairs seems to connect fine, but not being available in the too was inconvenient.

Location:

It is essentially 15 minutes walk out of town, the view is lovely from the accomodation and I didn't mind the walk. Yes there are dogs around, but they don't dp seem to be aggressive and usually just harmlessly bark.

Overall a good stay with friendly staff and owner, definitely recommend and hope they can sort out the wifi issue.
