Most charming & cozy home away from home

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jan 9, 2014
We were two couples (independent travelers in their 30s) who stayed for 5 nights and didn't want to leave!

This is one of those hotels where you realize there are some great minds behind every the details. The open bar has an "honesty book", a simple way to say "please feel at home" and a beautiful statement on an exchange of trust between guests and owners of the hotel. The living room is always playing soulful world music where guests relax, meet and share stories. We arrived after midnight from a delayed flight and despite the lateness Octavio greeted us with a smile and the most delicious home-made empanadas I've ever had (and I've been living in Argentina for almost four years now!). Then there was fresh water and truffle on the night table, a true treat after the airport ordeal. Immediately we knew we were in the hands of people who cared about their guests as if they were friends.

I don't want to give away any further surprises! Agustina was the sweetest smiley host, extremely attentive and accommodating. She helped us with booking transfers and excursions, recommended restaurants and even made reservations on our behalf.

Location is idyllic for those looking for peace and quiet in front of the Nahuel Huapi Lake. 20km away from the bustle of the city-center and easily accessible to activities such as biking, horseback, kayak, sailing, hiking etc. It is very near the Llao Llao National Park which is surrounded by lakes and at the foothills of the Andes. There is a convenient bus that stops right in front of the b&b, but in order to really juice out your experience I would highly recommend renting a car to explore the area (no matter where you're staying at in Bariloche in fact). Its also close to delicious restaurants like La Masia, Aashi and Il Gabbiano, although on most nights we chose to enjoy the luxury of having our own in-house gourmet Chef Gaby :)

Our room "Aire" was absolutely perfect, spacious with a king size bed, lake view and tasteful rustic vibe - with a mixture of modern decoration, black and white photography and restored antiques.

Muchas Gracias Los Juncos and its wonderful people!!

We were booked for 3 nights at Los Juncos and from the very start, Agustina made us feel extremely welcome and helped us enjoy a great stay in Bariloche through her tips and suggestions. Los Juncos is a unique and extremely comfortable place to stay and Ellie and Gaby delivered excellent breakfast and a memorable dinner for two couples on our last night. Wonderful and thanks!

I have stayed at Los Juncos with a friend last October.
We were extremely happy there. Really felt like home. Wonderful view on the lake, very cosy and comfortable guesthouse and room.
It is located outside the town but the bus runs every 20 min and stops right in front of the guest house.
Above all, we loved the atmosphere and the people! Augustina was so helpful and nice to talk to. She helped us plan our excursions and even gave us recommendations for our next trip to Buenos Aires! And the food...!!!!! Gabi is a great cook, we came back every night for dinner at the guest house and were not even tempted to try other options in town! Breakfast is very good as well!
I would definitely recommend to stay here!

Room tip: We were in the "Air" room and loved it. I haven't visited the other rooms to compare.

Los Juncos is the perfect blend of homey feel, great food, but laid back atmosphere. We felt at home, but free to do as we wanted, and without feeling like staff was all over us. We would stay here again and again, and my wife often says "find a place like los juncos" when I ask her where she wants to stay on a trip!

A great surprise to find such a home away from home! After arriving in a beautiful part of the lakeshore west of Bariloche we were received by the extremely friendly Gaby, who proved himself to be an excellent chef (not without a little help of Renata). Many personal touches make it an unforgettable experience, from handwritten name-signs, open bar with the 'book of honesty', to the arrangement of a rental car within 2 hours after arrival. Strongly recommended, clean spacious rooms decorated to immediately make you feel at home.

Room tip: For a bit more space go for the Alma room.

My husband and I stayed at Posada Los Juncos during our honeymoon in Argentina. We initially stayed one night in Fuego (small room but comfortable) before heading off for a 2 day trip to San Martin, then returned to Los Juncos for 2 nights this time staying in Aire (which is a beautiful big room with great views). From the moment we arrived, we felt relaxed and at home. This is partly due to the homely decor but mostly due to the warm welcome and friendliness of the host (Gabi) and hostess (Coni).
We ate in every night we stayed at Los Juncos - Gaby cooks everything himself and the food is consistently excellent. This was the only place we went to where someone specifically asked what our dietary requirements were (I am allergic to peanuts so it was nice for someone to check before my meal for once!). Although the meals were expensive (500 pesos per couple incl. 3 courses and wine), we were prepared to pay the price in order to have a delicious meal in relaxed surroundings (they set up the dining room with romantic candlelight and easy listening music). Plus the guesthouse is located quite far out of town (not walking distance, about 15km - you'd need to go by car, taxi or local bus), and after a day of sightseeing / driving we just wanted to relax at 'home' rather than head out again.
Coni spent at least an hour with us helping to plan our trip to San Martin de los Andes, which was really kind of her. She had great knowledge of the highlights of the area to see in a short time and gave us some excellent tips on hidden gems to visit during our trip.
We had some laundry done whilst at Los Juncos - but a couple of T-shirts went missing (we only noticed when we got back to the UK) and a couple of things shrunk a bit... so perhaps be wary of getting laundry done.
Whilst Aire was a great room, it was very hot at night with no way to turn down the radiators, so my husband did have some trouble sleeping one night.
Overall, despite a couple of things that could have been improved, we loved our stay at Los Juncos and would go back if in the area again. This guesthouse will not be to everyone's taste - don't go if you like big plush hotels, but definitely worth a visit if you like a small, rustic place with a more personal touch and lost of character. We would usually have rated this as 4/5, but we feel that the staff at Los Juncos really went out of their way to make our stay as perfect as possible, so overall we are going with 5 out of 5.

Room tip: Aire is lovely - wake up to an amazing view of the lake
