When my wife and I decided to spend a few weeks in Argentina we were very lucky and pleased to learn about a woman called Paula who runs Paula's Tours in Buenos Aires. But, Paula is more then just a tour operator. She is a bi-lingual (Spanish and English) beautiful and energetic Powerhouse, a confidant, a friend, a historian, a music lover, an artist, a mixologist, an interpreter and the best tour guid we ever had the privilege of working with. Paula offers Daytime Tours, Nightlife Tours, Museum and Art Tours, Tango Tours, and she is known to put together specialty tours based on YOUR needs and interests, not hers. One thing is certain, she works hard for you! Her rates are competitive, but you get so much more! She always has a big Book of notes at her side and is always jotting down new information as she learns it and she personally researches everything before-hand. She knows the right restaurants, the right times to get to the big museums, the transportation systems and everything else you need. She is well known, well regarded, seems to know everyone and has no problem making friends. While other tours do the same routine, every day, the same way, Paula steps out of the usual and takes you to places the others don't even know about. She loves her homeland and proudly shows it off. You'll find yourself saying outloud things like, "I never heard of this before" or "how come the tour books don't know about this?" Paula won't allow you to waste your time or money on tourist traps. While most tours take you to Florida Street for leather bargains, Paula will bring you to the real leather bargain shops, with their own factories in the back, where the GIGANTIC bargains are found. We bought 5 personally tailored leather coats, plus gloves and hats for what we would have paid for one or two "off the rack" coats back home. This is where the Locals shop and most tourists never find out about these places. The hotels won't even tell you about them. Paula will give you the complete rundown on the various Tango Shows....and she will tell you the one's to stay away from. We can honestly say, Paula made the difference between a good trip to Buenos Aires and a perfect trip to Buenos Aires. Trust us, you'll make a good friend in the process. We think the world of Paula! Our advice, spend lots of time with her while you're in Buenos Aires or the vicinity. It will be well worth your time!
