“Challenging hike”

Hike was easy during the first half but gets more physical for the last 20 mins. If you are scared of heights just keep moving forward. As you climb up you wont realize how you are at until you are at the peak. It is worth the hike if you are game for it. Hiking down could be tricky if it is dark - do grab a headlight with you.

the views are amazing no doubt, for peaple that are not feet its an ok hike not to easy but not to tougf , if you scared of ledders and chains there is an easier rout but you don't get to the topest of the mountain, you almost get there and the views is the same, if you are insane and want to go on top prepare to climb in a very dangerous suraunding. good luck. you s hould go early since parking is very small, and it gets hot after 7 am, we came ther at 5:30

We beganour walk by 9.30 am and I am glad we did. By the time we were descending it was getting very busy. Its a wondeful clmb, if you are able, but don't tackle it if you are not reasonably fit and able to scramble up some steep sections. Of course the views are incredible if the weather is good.

Don't think about it and just go.....the views are absolutely STUNNING! The hike is not overly difficult. We used the chains and ladders to go up and chose the alternative route coming down...didn't fancy the kids (nor l) trying to navigate those things backwards. That would not have been easy.

Otherwise wear sensible shoes and clothing bearing in mind the hike and water.

The views from start to finish are special, once in a lifetime kind of stuff. I envy all those who live in Cape Town for having such a place on their doorstep!

I would say that this would be the #1 most do when in Cape Town.....and it's FREE! Why would you not do it?!

I was originally told that it would take 45 minutes at most to hike up to the summit. Whoever can hike that fast is super strong. That being said, when I hiked up with my school group, it was a last minute change of plans due to our original plan for the day being cancelled. In addition, as someone who has a fear of heights, I was terrified. The trail winds around the side of the mountain. There are ladders, boulders, and rocks to climb to get to the top, so be warned if you have any disabilities or can't do such physical activity. It took about 1:30 hours to get to the top, including breaks. Bring water, sunscreen, and a strong dose of courage! It will definitely be a challenge at points, physically and emotionally, but in the end it is all worth it. The views are breathtaking.
