I'm not really into modern art, but I loved this museum! The architecture is breathtaking. Make sure you check out one of the audio sets near the entrance and take the architecutre audio tour. It takes about 40 min and gives the background of the building as well as how they managed to transform it from grain silos to an art center.

Worth a visit if for nothing else to admire how the former grain silos have been used to house this museum, that was the real highlight for us!. Some of the art was provoking, some of it incomprehensible, some of it stunning, some of too 'preachy'. You have to visit it to make up your own mind, I guess that's the point of art as a whole but contemporary particularly. Definitely take the lift to the top - great views as you rise up the silo - and then work your way down.

It has taken many years, but finally Cape Town has an art gallery/ museum to be super proud of. The design and lay-out of the building is remarkable and reminds me of the scale of the Tate Modern in London. The exhibits are edgy and thought provoking. LOVED every minute!

This gallery is exactly what Cape Town needed. It's such a vibrant city with so much art to offer and Zeitz really shows that all off. The selection of art is exceptionally well curated. If you're a tourist, you would need to rush through it in one day as there is so much to see. As a local, it's best to take it all in in about 2 or 3 half days. The shop is really expensive and over priced. It's very obviously catered to tourist prices. Well worth a visit.
Cheeky note: Roger Ballen's room is not for the faint hearted.

We visited this museum near The V & A Waterfront not knowing what to expect, but on arrival were greeted by a super architectural icon. The museum is 'carved out' of 8 giant redundant grain silos and the entrance space is fantastic....Well done Hetherington. The six floors are served by too few lifts and there are queues, but the gallery spaces are very good.....Start at the top and work down. There is a permanent collection of African art plus many other galleries of temp art. Allow at least a day to get a real feel of the place. There is a bar/restaurant on the 6th floor and a good shop at ground level. I feel that a little more time is needed by the curators to get the best from the temporary exhibits and that is why (at the moment) I will only give it 4 stars. Easy parking below ground level. Highly recommended
