Friday The 13th is scary is said to be a bad luck day, if only I was that fortunate to get just a day...
My mom and I decided to treat ourselves with a beachfront hotel with a view of the ocean. We decided on the Blue Waters Hotel. After eventually finding parking, I made my way to front desk, my first impression was cold and uninviting. The lady who checked me in, (Nozipho), was not friendly, unhelpful and gave me the wrong opening times for the dolphin bar. When I asked if it was possible for a late check out I was told that, I, yes me the paying guest, would need to call later and ask the duty manager. My mom and i wanted to go see the sites and walk around, so i asked Nozipho if it was possible to leave some bags at reception As out room was not ready yet. She said yes, so I went to get the bags. When I got back to reception with my bags for check-in, I heard Nozipho offering another guest a porter to help with the their, bit confused I asked Nozipho why I was not afforded the same Hospitality. Unable to answer me or just plain blanking me out, she called Bhenkhane over to assist me, he came over tagged our bags and handed me back the tags.

Parking is around the back of the hotel, all went smooth no issues Moesie was very courteous and helpful. Barely down the ramp and our assigned parking bay is on the left. Parking bay 5. Unpack the rest of our luggage and head for our room.

Bhenkhane was waiting at reception with our stored luggage. We headed to our room. Room Was nice but I felt it missed something. Bhenkhane was very helpful and knowledgeable about the phone number of each department.
Not even 5mins In the room and the phone rings, its front desk, Nozipho made a mistake and booked the wrong parking bay, she accidently assigned the owner of the hotels parking bay to me, so could i come down now and move my car to the newly assigned correct parking bay, huh?

Long story short this comedy of errors carried on up until we checked out Monday morning 16 July 2018.
I was lucky enough to have
Bumped into Lindy (Guest services Manager) the on duty duty manager. She was Friendly, courteous and helpful. With the hope that she might be of more help than a blog or review I have forwarded all my complaints etc to her. Blue Waters Hotel... Service is not an extra it's given!

Nice hotel near beach front, rooms are clean and well kept, the buffet style breakfast was great the only downside was the housekeeping receptionist (for lack of a better word) seemed disinterested in helping out had to call back again 30min later requesting someone to convert the beds. The wifi codes they allocate have expired you have to go back to reception to request new ones. But overall everything was above board.

I have stayed at Blue Waters numerous times over the past few years and have always had international guests staying at the hotel. But don't be fooled there are issues that need to be addressed. Let's start with the positive aspects:
+ great views if you book sea view
+ rooms are spacious and clean
+ housekeeping does a good job, although they sometimes forget towels and toilet paper
+ breakfast is a wonderful spread and great variety
+ beaches are just across the road
+ staff friendly and helpful, but ...

sadly now the negative aspects:
- at check-in there were not enough staff to check the guests in, people had been kept waiting a long time. it took us 40 min to get checked in, we were told nothing had been paid in advance and we were asked to pay upfront; after a further 15min the receptionist returned and said that we didn't need to pay, as the money was paid in advance. The problem was the system
- wifi was terrible and you now have to pay for extra MG
- the most terrible experience is the noise at night and early morning coming from other rooms. my guests were woken up nearly every single night during their stay due to loud laughing and shouting on the corridors and in the other rooms. I myself was woken up on to loud music and noise. And all this commotion did not always come from the same guests. It so sad to see such a lovely hotel loosing its good name.

This is the 3 time I've had similar problems at the hotel. I am very sad to say that I will not be coming to Blue Waters again, especially not with international guests. I am so ashamed. This does not reflect the good standards this hotel once had. It seems many guests now staying at the hotel think they are the only ones there and do not consider the other guests.

Room tip: Sea View is a great choice.

I liked everything about the hotel.
Their breakfast was so on point.
The hotel was so clean.
Comfortable beds
Secured parking
Friendly staff.
They should improve their lunch and dinner.
The view was so perfect.

Nice basic hotel. Good food, good ocean views friendly staff. Across the road from beaches. Internet inadequate, bathroom drains blocked, toilet seat loose. The hotel stay was spoiled by smoking of neighbouring guests in non-smoking hotel rooms. Complaints to front-desk staff fell on deaf ears. Give this hotel a miss if you are sensitive to cigarette smoke!

We are disappointed to hear you had some difficulties during your stay, Please kindly note that Wi-Fi is complimentary on arrival of 500mb which is accessible only on Public areas of the Hotel. The matters mentioned above regarding maintenance in the room and Front desk has been reported to the relevant departments, Please kindly note that all rooms are Non-smoking rooms however, Rooms with balconies guests are allowed to smoke on the balconies.
