Our tour included stops at nelson mandela house and hector pietersen museum but they were both closed on bank holidays. Harrowing guided walk around shanty town. Many curio stalls wherever we stopped. Quite expensive but wouldn't have missed it nor should you go there without a guide

We enjoyed seeing Soweto. However it was a reminder of the huge difference between the have and have nots in South Africa

The guide was ( we took the 12 40 on Saturday 31st March 2018 )excellent , knowledgeable and amusing but the subject matter that is to say the area is not particularly interesting and as you might expect very run down the tour takes about two hours and includes stops for those of you who want to take pictures .

Everybody should visit this township, not only because is the home of two Nobel Prize winners but because here you can see how is the real life for a lot of south african inhabitants in the townships

Great trip with our guide who was informative friendly and answered all our questions. We were lucky that there were only 3 of us so it was a little more personal than normal. Highly recommend anyone to do this if visiting Joburg though that is not much else to do when all the museums are shut
