Stunning landscapes and very friendly people, remote but very remote

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Mar 11, 2016
This is one of the most extraordinary places we have ever been in our lives. It is in a . very remote place (4 hour drive, very bumpy dirt track, we heard of people which had two flat tires etc). Do not drive yourself. But anyway: we enjoyed such very special views, and very friendly and helpful staff. We did hikes and horse back riding. We have seen the most beautiful views ever. We enjoyed tasteful (modern) dinners. Not the usual Argentina big steaks. And after a long day we sat in front of a cosy open fire in the lobby. We will go back, but defintely bring some good novels.

We stayed at Helsingfors for 5 days at the beginning of our trip. We couldn't have found a better location to get away from it all, it is very remote! We did all the excursions on offer but were really looking for riding. Our favourite trip was a 9hr ride into the hills just us and our guide, the views were unbelievable, I couldn't stop taking photos. In fact, every excursion offered fantastic views.

They made a huge effort with the food although I think we would have preferred something a bit more rustic/local style with more red meat but that is personal preference. On our last night when we were craving a hearty meaty meal after 24km trek and the main was fish we only had to mention it and Justine the manager and she got it changed to Lomo for us which was fantastic! The staff were all fantastic and made a huge effort with everything with special mention for our guide Eberisto who was fantastic with the horses and the waitress Lucy.

What we hadn't appreciated in advance was that whilst they do their best to accommodate what all the guests want to do in terms of excursions they can be a bit restricted by the number of guides available so if there is something particular you want to do it might be best to arrange in advance. I think that's especially true if you are an experienced rider and want to do more challenging rides / want to go at a faster pace as the majority of guests aren't experienced.

All in all we had a fantastic time at Helsinfors and would recommend it in a flash.

Coming onto the property of Helsingfors it was love at first sight! This is where I could live I thought! The staff greeted us like old time friends! The rooms were on the small side, but good, besides we spent most of our times outside embracing the beauty that surrounded us! The lobby was so welcoming and we visited with our fellow travelers. This became our watering hole!
The meals were wonderful! We were serenaded one evening with songs of the gauchos! It didn't get much better than that! Helsingfors always has a place in my heart. Kuban Family

From the food to the setting, this is one of my favorite places on earth. They even let me play with the border collies. Our group hiked, rode horseback and dined on fabulous meals. I loved the fireplace in the lobby

Overall our experience was excellent. The rooms were underwhelming but the lounge and restaurant area were fantastic. The food and service experience was excellent. The staff always helpful. The barman maitre de and waiter combined (sorry forgot his name by now) was very good, always ready to help and an upbeat person. The meals were first class and the wine was good. We did a couple of other all inclusives of this trip a day Helsingfors would do well to offer the same. The cost may be no different but it was always awkward pi King from awkward expensive wine list awkward trying to keep track of the bar bill.

The setting and scenery are just magnificent. We had clear weather with el chaltern visible. The horse riding in to the hills and the walk to the blue lagoon (exhausting) was amazing. Despite the long gravel road to get there it is worth 3 or 4 days just to see the scenery

Beautiful rooms with plenty of space to relax in. A great lobby area with a fireplace going all the time. Wonderful staff & delicious food cooked with fresh food from the garden. Amazing views if you're willing to make the trip go up to the Blue Lagoon!

Room tip: The room located outside the main house is perfect little bungalow!!!
