The Conrad Bora Bora Nui is nothing short of dazzling. They provide a guest experience at the highest level, setting a global standard for service, location, accommodations and dining. We recently had a 17-night stay(!) for a long-delayed honeymoon.

If you are reading reviews to figure out where your hard-earned resources should be spent, trust me, we have done the screening for you. The Conrad Bora Bora Nui is the real deal! For some it will be an unforgettable trip of a lifetime. Be prepared to never want to travel anywhere else again. Yes, it’s that amazing.

Arriving about a week after French Polynesia opened to fully vaccinated visitors, we found that our stay was similar if not enhanced from two previous stays, despite the impacts of COVID related restrictions. For those reading this review and wondering about travel as the pandemic is (hopefully) receding from the global stage, staff at the Conrad assisted with the modest requirements that the government requires, such as testing 4 days after arrival. One simply hands off the self-administered test to the front desk and they ship it off for processing.

There have been over a thousand exceptional reviews of the Conrad, and as stated before this is our third stay, so those to facts should speak for themselves. Though the destination is remote, the extra time to fly and make connections are well worth the effort. We have travelled globally for decades and have found that the Conrad Bora Bora Nui to be a hotel of the highest caliber and worth the time and effort to vacation there.

Note that it is not an inexpensive resort. However, we have stayed at a number of 5-star resorts in Bora Bora over the years. The Conrad is the only one we would recommend to travelers. It far surpasses The Thalasso, and the St Regis, which are both exceptional as well. We find that the combination of professional, well trained, highly skilled, sincere, authentic staff, a breathtaking location, ( more on that in a moment), beautifully manicured gardens, stunning architecture and exceptionally designed accommodations, the freshest and most creative of dining with powerful French, Asian and local influences as well as all of the available activities make this an experience of a lifetime for the discerning guest.

I must call out some of the exceptional staff that ensure such a flawless and memorable stay. Cedric was our assigned butler. He is part of a newly enhanced guest services program and he was our liaison for following up on any queries or needs we may have. His service was always available, but never intrusive. He is a consummate professional in his field. The chef, Didier Jacob, runs an extraordinary kitchen, managing dozens of staff to ensure the freshest of ingredients are used for dining. Keep in mind most of the provisions need to be shipped a long way. However, what is available locally, such as some fruits and the seafood, are harvested, prepped and served daily. Fish comes in every day on the dock from local fisherman. You can’t get more local or fresher than that!

The restaurant staff are attentive, professional, highly skilled and authentic in their grace. I want to thank Poema, Mateata, Manata, Mary Von, Ravahere, and Sylvanne who were so attentive at breakfast. After our first day, they knew our favorite table, our preferred coffee beverages and juices, and were always informative and gracious when we had questions. I may have spelled some of their names incorrectly ( I apologize) and I may have forgotten a few names, but you were all greatly appreciated! Hinano was our friendly and attentive server for an entire evening when we has special dinner at a remote scenic location for sunset.

Others who made our stay memorable were Kimi, Marine and Julia as part of the concierge and office team who ensured a smooth experience and were always available to assist. Our dedicated housekeeper Ida deserves special mention as she created a tapestry of thoughtfulness when it came to tidying up our room. Towels were folded onto various lovely sculptures and flowers were refreshed as needed. Though I did not get the name of the staff member who managed our nightly turndown service ( yes, even with COVID restrictions, housekeeping remains at a high level, frequency and standard) they were so thoughtful and detail oriented.

The expansive breakfast buffet is impressive with a stunning selection of French pastries always available, created by a dedicated pastry chef. Pastries are brought out hot and fresh throughout the morning. There is a great selection of wonderful French breads as well. There is a delightful fresh fruit selection as well as salads, yogurt and toppings, a selection of savory morning standards such as bacon, sausages and eggs, as well as Asian inspired fare.

Activities are available, but are weather dependent. We found the snorkeling, one of our most favorite activities, to be exceptional when conditions allow, which is much of the time. Dozens of species of reef fish are easily viewed within seconds of entering the water. Larger reef fauna such as manta rays, eagle rays, sting rays and black tipped sharks are seen frequently. It takes modest effort to see thousands of fish in within a few minutes of snorkeling. We found that excursions off site provided some diversity of species and fun locations, but a snorkeler could be quite content never leaving the lagoon around the Conrad. There is kayaking and paddle boarding as well as a multi-level infinity pool that looks over the azure blue sea beyond. For those looking to explore the mainland, there is a boat shuttle available for a nominal fee to Vaitape, the nearest town, which has a grocery store, fruit stands and shops.

As for accommodations, they are nothing short of specular. For those interested in seeing what exceptional design, harmonious use of materials and intuitive features such as lighting can aspire to, rooms at the Conrad set a high standard. No detail has been too small to put thoughtful consideration into. For those who want to post on social media, the rooms, both inside and out, will provide a breathtaking backdrop to photos and videos.

If you made it this far reading this review I will repeat my introduction.

My wife and I stayed 4 nights here for her graduation trip. When we arrived, we received a graduation cake, bottle of champagne, and a fruit basket. The hotel and staff did a great job of making us feel comfortable. The rooms were amazing and they did a great job fulfilling all of our needs. Fingers crossed we will return for the baby moon haha.

My wife and I stayed here for our 20th anniversary trip. From the moment we arrived we felt special. The staff greeted us warmly and gave us a tour of the property. The overwater villa was spectacular. All the restaurants were very good. The breakfast buffet was exceptional. The amenities were fabulous particularly the pool. We would definitely recommend the Conrad Bora Bora Nui.
