Booked through a third-party site where the photos looked great. When we arrived, the room was filthy, window had glass broken and wouldn't shut. The balcony was covered in mold and there was not even a chair in the room or balcony.

They refused to refund, but we would rather eat the $120 dollars during a high season weekend then stay in this place. Also, the great mountain view doesn't even exist, a different hotel has been built in front so all you see are brick walls.

Also, we overheard a conversation between the manager and the receptionist where he told her in Vietnamese to pretend to not understand English so that we would stop trying to get a refund or complain.

This hotel doesn't offer a lot. Just the location and the friendly staff are ok. Everything else is in a really bad shape. We couldn't close our room so we had to lock it every time we were in it. The loudness was very high all the time. The door of our bathroom squeaked so loud you could hear it in the whole hotel. There was also a waterpipe in the wall of our bathroom which was so loud that we couldn't sleep very well. Maybe the uncomfortable beds were another reason for our bad sleep. To sum up it can be said that this hotel is way too expensive for what it has to offer (we paid $80 for 2 nights without breakfast) and we can't recommend it, sorry!

The hotel owner was very friendly and helpful. We were able to have late check out so that we could shower after our trek before catching a sleeper train back to Hanoi.
However this hotel was not what we were expecting, we chose Casablanca as it was recommended in our lonely planet guide for the great views. Photos on trip advisor also suggested we would have views of the valley, unfortunately there are now two large hotels blocking the view. This is a general problem for Sapa town, there is construction everywhere and it seems that most hotels that previously provided 'great views' have lost this to newer hotels - check before you book!
Although the views cannot be helped, the room was also very dusty and a bit scruffy (smashed window in balcony door had sellotape to patch it up, also we could not stand under shower we had to hold it over our heads).

As we travel a lot, we have stayed in different hotels around the world. Some good some bad, but we have to put this one on the bottom. Hotel is really run down with no maintenance. No heating or cooling. Room was freezing. Gaps in balcony door and windows were so big I could put my fingers between panels. Smell from piping in bathroom was overpowering not to mention state of bath, sink and toilet. Power points and extension leads were to dangerous to even touch it. Good points - average location.

I spent about 5 days here. I found that the staff was really helpful! He recommended where we could get dependable motorcycles, gave us suggestions on where to go and when we did a trip on our motorbikes ( which meant we would be gone for a couple of days), he let us leave our language there without paying:)

When it comes to the facilities, they could be better. We had a heater in our room that was only allowed to be on when we were in the room which meant that when we came home, it was really cold. The shower was a bit tricky as well, you either got really really hot water or cold.

So our stay at Casablanca hotel could have been a bit more comfortable ( and we expected ut to be considering what we payed) but the service made up for it big time. It all depends what you are after really, doesn't it? For me, I concluded that service is more important.
