We had an amazing time on the Bio-Luminescence and Sunset Kayak Tour! After a two week trip in Costa Rica with many amazing tours and activities, this one was one of the most memorable. We were lucky enough that it was just the two of us on our tour, and that we got Diego as a guide. Diego was an amazing guide, who was not just incredibly knowledgable about everything ocean-related, but also had a great sense of humour and was so much fun. He clearly really loves what he does, which makes such a difference in a guide. While we didn't see any dolphins, the sunset was beautiful. But the highlight of the trip was, without a doubt, the bioluminescence. It felt like we were swimming among stars in the milky way. It's so hard to describe, but such a magical experience to be swimming in the ocean in complete darkness, and see swirls of flashing lights all around you. Diego's excitement about the magic of the bioluminescence made it even more exciting for us. On the paddle home, the bioluminescence lit up the water all around our kayaks, making for a beautiful end to our amazing tour. The actual kayak part is easy enough for beginners, and the kayaks are comfortable with back rests. Highly recommend this tour!!!

We booked the Mangrove kayak your through Aventuras Tropicales at the recommendation of our Air BNB host. The tour can only go at high tide and on the day we went the tide was late in the afternoon, so in effect we got a combo mangrove tour with the sunset / bioluminescence tour. This was an awesome trip! We had a small group (3 paddlers plus a guide), loved the up close tour of the mangrove swamps, the swim after, and the kayak out into the gulf as the sunset was the highlight of our entire time in Osa - so beautiful. Arrangements via email and web site were a little funky but worked out with no problems. Everyone at AT was a pleasure to work with. No particular kayak skill required - water was smooth and easy everywhere we went and the open-top kayaks are easy to manage.

We loved the half day mangrove kayak tour. Diego was a fantastic guide, and was great at giving us kayaking tips as well as spotting wildlife and teaching us about the area.

Near the end of the tour, we stopped and had a chance to swim in the gulf (perfect water!) and Diego cut up fresh pineapple and coconut. I will be forever sad when I have pineapple at home because it will never live up to the pineapple we had on the tour!

Staff is friendly and helpful at the main office and stored our bags with them, and there was also a place to rinse off our feet. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked.

Be sure to put on a lot of sunscreen and bring water, since the beginning and end of the trip is not as shaded.

One of the highlights of our trip, would absolutely recommend!

We have done the bioluminescance tour and were lucky with the weather. I recommend to choose a date close to new moon, and to avoid the full moon day date. We were lucky to see dolfins while waiting the sunset before enjoying a collation waiting darkness. And then we start snorkelling ... and there it was ... bioluminescance phenomenon is seen when shaking our hands on the water ... is feel on our skin while in the water ... is seen on a dark piece of clothe pulled of the water (like a night sky full of stars) ...
when paddling ... it appears from all mechanical effects ... The marine bioluminescance is one the the few things that can only be experienced ... i meen it is improbable to bring it back on your camera ... if you are lucky with weather and tides, it is an absolutely unique experience, just amazing !

Alberto and Alberto were a joy to be with, and they gave us an amazing day! We watched whales breach, then followed a large family of dolphins as they jumped and swam around us. After a delicious picnic on a beach, Young Alberto gave us an educational kayak tour of the mangroves and the wildlife deeper in the mangrove forest. Afterwards, he showed us how to efficiently prepare a pineapple and coconut with nothing but a survival knife! These are genuine and caring people, and they made the experience a joy.
