Great view, dull menu, needs work.

It's hard not to be taken a back by the view from La Mansion. It is indeed breath-taking. That being said, I probably wouldn't stay here again if in Manuel Antonio. We had a honeymoon package booked, and we did receive everything with the exception of the welcome fruit in our room and sparkling wine, so that was a bit disappointing. We had to remind them a few times about the package so that we weren't charged for the catamaran tour or massage.

Other than that, it was okay. The stairwell down to our room constantly had dead flies on it which seemed strange given we saw the staff sweeping the hallways (perhaps not the stairs?) Also, when it rained there were two leaks in our room by the windows. Not a big deal, but they may want to look into recaulking.

The food was okay. I would suggest the comida typical as it is what they are best at... The rest of the food that was aimed at tourists was not so good.

The staff was good though. Friendly, always ready to help, but a bit clueless in terms of the reservations.

A lovely place in general, just needs a bit of TLC.

The hotel was very nice, clean and with an absolutely gorgeous view. The staff was extremely helpful from the beginning of our stay until we left (we were there for three nights). They helped us book a ziplining trip and the free shuttle to Manuel Antonio was very helpful, since it saved us the hassle and expense of a cab ride. The bat bar was nice (although usually empty) but the drinks were delicious, as was the free breakfast. Overall it was an excellent experience, the only downside being that it was more of an all inclusive resort feel than authentic Costa Rica.

The photos tell the story for fussy decor and overdone lighting; for South Beach Florida this place works but not for the tranquility of Manuel Antonio. Don't get me wrong, the rooms are well appointed and clean - they simply are not the image of this part of the world; no beautiful native woods or local design. Unfortunately the staff attitude doesn't make up the difference for the Vegas style rooms as the staff echo a casino-style attitude with a reserved and disinterested tone. Where are the friendly and warm ticos we found in the rest of Costa Rica? The manager was helpful to right some shortfalls but she couldn't be there 24/7.The chef could use some help in the kitchen in featuring local cuisine and hot food served hot. And how sad that the owner unfortunately could not even trouble himself with a basic hello to his guests.

Room tip: The suites and penthouses are above the entry where they is too much noise from cars trying to park in a cluster postage stamp parking lot.

We are sorry that your experience here at La Mansion Inn it was not what you expected to be.
We have always taken great pride in the cleanliness and tranquility of our rooms. The sky lounge and swimming pool area give the best possible representation of what Costa Rica is all about. Our 360 degree ocean views, visiting monkeys and surrounding rainforest say it all. Our desire is, that once you return to your room you can then escape to an environment which anyone might expect from a 5 star hotel such as ours. Perhaps you misinterpreted the profesionallism of our staff for a cold and unfriendly additude. Our goal is to simply give the highest possible standard of service that we can. Unfortunately you did not notice the selection of local cuisine on our menu. The local gallo pinto has always been a favorite of the guests.
The owner also understands and respects you privacy while you are on vacation. Many guests do not like to be overwhelmed with excessive interruptions.

It started off poorly, noone greeted us or helped us with bags. A person who barely spoke English said the front desk agent was giving a tour. We waited then finally were shown to our room without a tour, a junior suite, just above the lobby overlooking the parking lot. We were not happy, since we asked for a great view. I went down to ask for another room and Alberto said he could upgrade us to a Penthouse suite. Why didn't he just do this at the start? The new room was wonderful. There didn't need to be a exercise bike in there, but we were much happier. Also, there needs to be a second tv by the bed. They brought us complimentary glasses of wine. We woke up to gorgeous views. The breakfasts were great. Dinner was great, we ate at Jacque Costeau twice. The staff and service were excellent. Their shuttle service was a nice feature, even though it is a small sedan. They even went out of their way to drop us at La Luna. The property is a little dated. The owner is obviously proud of his grand opening in the 80's, with pictures of Don Johnson, David Carradine and dark-hair Jay Leno. Maybe its time for those pictures to come down? And they also hang the comment cards on the wall, which we thought would be better off in a booklet or something. We saw a group of capuchin monkeys off our balcony, a howler monkey and on our last day, a pair of toucans.

Must Do's- Guided tour of park (Mau from Iguana Tours was great), La Luna Restaurant sunset

Avoid- Nature Air (they canceled our flight and denied a refund), Quepos (nothing to really see in town), Kevin's Transfers (he tried to steal us from our real driver)

Room tip: Make sure to get a room in the north wing, by the pool

Very exclusive, clean, and service is exceptional. Great food. Breakfast was included (Gallo Pinto tastes great). Wifi Included.

Pool and room's panoramic views are breathtaking. We could actually see the monkeys eating coconuts in the tree right in front of our room.

The only detail is that parking is very limited and access is tough. If anything ask for help... they will be able to help you out.

Room tip: Ask for a Penthouse if you want the best. Any room has a great view, and they are only a few.

We both went here on our honeymoon and when we first got there, we were suppose to stay in the Penthouse 4 but instead got the 2. The Penthouse 2 was also very amazing but we really wanted the Penthouse 4, so we spoke with one of the managers Damien about it. We were expecting to maybe get a credit of some sort and move to the Penthouse 4 in 2 days with the current guests left. Instead, they upgraded us to the presidential suite which was absolutely stunning, and even more than we could have imagined. All the rooms in this hotel was amazing. We tried food around in Quepos but the food at La Mansion at the Jacques Cousteau restaurant and the breakfast and lunch were by far one of the best in the area. The staff was amazing, we got to meet Alberto at the front desk, Adriene, Jorge, Christopher, and Roberto at the restaurants and these guys were just great when it comes to service and answered a lot of questions for us, not to mention Damien who made sure we had everything we needed. Hotel has great views to the ocean. Definantly go for the honeymoon package, it was well worth it. We also checked out the Spa Uno which is 5 mi from the hotel and got a massage on their outside balcony in the middle of the jungle where you got a relaxing massage and here the monkeys and birds all around...and their products are great too. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone and we will come back again for sure :)
