This Hotel is right on the beach. You can't get any closer. The rooms are adequate and the employees will do whatever they can for you. The food is good with other options if you want to eat elsewhere.
We stayed here for 2 nights. Nice room, comfy bed. Staff go above and beyond to ensure you have a great stay. The food is some of the best I have ever had with traditional and continental selections. We lucked in on Taco Tuesday with a band for entertainment
Despite Numerous Visits And Complaints To The Staff, They Continue To Not Fix Their Refridgerators and continue to serve warm beer ever since last year. Also be forewarned if you are using a credit card they won't let you pay in colonies 576/ US $ instead they use their own rate of exchange 500/US$ this means you are paying an extra
576/500= 15 % for every dollar you spend there.
Room 212 (or 211)!!! Balcony views, spacious room, clean bathroom, air conditioning, beach towel service. There is a $10 charge for this room but it is worth it.
Great location. Right in front of the beach. Can you ask for anything better?!
The bar/restaurant is right downstairs, there is nice artwork in the hallways. Luis the bartender is very professional!

This is one of our favorite places to stay in Costa Rica. The hotel and its restaurant are right on the beach, though well shaded; and the staff always friendly and most helpful. It's lovely to wake up to the sounds of birds in the nearby trees, sit on the 2nd floor veranda, and/or go down to the airy restaurant for coffee and breakfast. Definitely a place to unwind in complete comfort.
The water is only yards away, and the hotel offers the use of their beach chairs. When you get tired of swimming and/or beach walking or otherwise need a refreshment, they're right there.
The hotel even arranged for a taxi to meet us at the LIR airport after our 10pm arrival there.
This was our 4th time staying at this fine place and I hope we'll have many more opportunities.
We aren't chain hotel or resort people as we want to get to know the real people of the areas new to us. El Velero was just great. We found all of the staff to be friendly and personable. They were always attentive and Luis was particularly helpful even if we never did get on a catamaran. The food was great--we were there to enjoy both BBQ and Taco nights. The hotel though older was clean and comfortable. The area outside had a nice, clean pool as well as plenty of seating. We enjoyed most of our time sitting there watching the ocean, the boats, the people going by, the sight and noises of the various "wild" life. A clear indication that they served amazing food for a good price was shown by the people not staying at the hotel who, while walking the beach, would stop in--some staying hours. The ocean and beach was always clean and, while there were always people out there, it never seemed crowded. Excellent place to relax!
