Reserved three rooms on this property for my family, ages 6-66. Leading up to the booking, the hotel did a great job with email communication. We arrived close to 8:00 p.m. and the staff were waiting for us. Diego at the front desk is absolutely amazing, along with the other staff members. Many staff speak perfect English, which was a nice benefit. They were all very attentive despite their being no telephones in the room for any requests.
The photos online are very accurate of the rooms. We loved the fact that we ran into very few guests, but the hotel also didn't feel like a ghost town. It is recently under new management, so that may change in the future if it gets more crowded (since we actively saw them building more bungalows).
All bungalows have glass doors and beautiful foliage outside. This also means that there is no insulation and you will hear the birds and roosters in the morning along with staff golf carts zooming by. We did not find this disruptive, but it might be an important note for some travelers.
Our favorite feature was the front porches! They're secluded enough for privacy, have quality hammocks, and seating. The rooms for spotless, exceptionally clean linens and towels, and we witnessed housekeeping applying great efforts to keep the floors clean. Bugs are inevitable In this climate, and of course a few were seen, but so was the pest control guy. :)
The bathrooms are very small and dim with hardly a mirror. You may wish to bring your own hand mirror. My bungalow had an amazing hot water system with great water pressure, the other two rooms did not. One of the rooms had a broken bathroom light, and every sink drained very slowly. Each room had some type of refrigeration unit and coffee pot; some had a hair dryer and some did not. Some outlets work, and some do not. The air conditioning units in all three rooms works well.
A small gift shop is present but has more souvenirs than hygiene amenities.
Included in our room rate was daily breakfast at Leonardo's restaurant which is attached. This is very much needed, since this hotel is not located in city center; it's quite a ways away from anything and we had not realized that when we booked. Be prepared for tour guides to charge you extra to make their way out there.
At breakfast, you are given four entrees to choose from, all were mostly similar, but equally appreciated as they were hot and fresh. We also ate at Leonardo's twice for dinner, which we found overpriced and mediocre. Though the servers were incredibly friendly with conversation, the kitchen took long to produce food which came out one plate at a time. Their cocktails were very good.
The grounds at this hotel are immaculate and beautiful. We enjoyed walking around the property daily! The pool is the perfect size, and warm water is added daily. We had a very nice experience!
