This hotel is in such a prime location to the volcano and offers great packages so that you as a guest don't really ever have to leave the resort to find something to do. They have a hike to the volcano + hanging bridges tour that is EXHAUSTING but so beautiful - Kwalqi? I forget her name so sorry, but the tour guide to the volcano - she is amazing!!! I had so much fun with her. Ziplining was also really scary but fun - they have a great time working there.

Anyway, a lot to sightsee and a lot to do within the resort so the fact they have multiple hot springs to relax at is just a huge highlight for end of day - such a beautiful location.

The hotel room was really nice, good size, beautiful bathroom and everything was accessible.

The downsides are the food - even though the service is good and so much is included with your stay, the buffet is subpar and the food is overpriced for what it tastes like - it's simply convenient to eat there rather than go outside the resort to eat when you have a jam packed schedule. None of the food there was amazing.

The other downsides are that they are kind of stingy with towels - but when you are taking multiple showers a day because of activities you need more than just one!

And the biggest reason I would give this one star down is...NO WIFI IN THE HOTEL ROOMS.

Please be aware of that before you book - there is spotty wifi at the dining room but in the rooms there is no WIFI at ALL!!! I know I know when you are on vacation you need to disconnect but it's a huge downside in my opinion when you want to catch up end of day and well... you can't even update your instagram without having to go to the dining area, so just be cautious of that if you prefer to be connected, LOL.

Room Tip: Rooms close to the animals are nice and private

The front desk reception people were so helpful. They went above and beyond. The property is beautiful. The thermal pools are lovely, each a different temperature. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It was very peaceful. I wish I could have stayed longer.

We enjoyed our stay at Los Lagos. The rooms were new and clean, and the hot springs were lots of fun. We loved the spa and the treatments we received there. The only downside is that the children in the room above us were having a very noisy footrace and dragging furniture (loudly) across the floor late at night and started again early in the morning. The next time we visit this area we'll likely look for an adults-only property...unless we have grandkids with us. :)

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor or not beneath unruly children.

The pool area was lovely - so many birds and butterflies. We went every day. Some days the water was cooler but that might have been because of heavy rain the night before. The water was clear, different pools of different temperatures. The pool that has the swim up bar was one of the hottest. Waterslides were fun and fast!

Breakfast was buffet style and included with our hotel deal. It was very good, fruits as well as hot buffet style items and eggs to order. So many birds to watch at breakfast.

Our room was 104 and was close to everything. We had a view of the volcano from a seating area outside. The room was big (2 queens). Internet was not very good but TV had some English channels (HBO movies).

The gardens are beautiful - lots of amazing flowers. They have ant and butterfly exhibits and a few turtles. We didn't see any crocodiles though.

The hotel is a few minutes drive to La Fortuna. I think they told us a taxi was about $8US each way. We had dinner at the pool bar once - tasty burgers. The restaurant prices were expensive so we didn't eat there. We went into La Fortuna for dinner twice. It's a nice town with lots of places to eat and drink as well as tourist shops.

Room Tip: 104 was close to everything.

Second time here. Nice rooms, mine seemed to be fairly new. Pools are nice both hot and cold. Zip lining here isn’t as good as some others in Costa Rica but it’s not bad for the money. Free breakfast is really good with great variety. Restaurant is very good for dinner with a wide variety of options. The worst part of this place is the hills of you try to walk from your room to the pools or restaurant. They have a shuttle that runs about every 15 minutes so as long as you don’t mind waiting for a few minutes it’s not a problem. I would recommend staying here.
