Very very fast way to get from the airport to a station in Shanghai, from which you can transfer to anywhere. It’s a good way to save ~30-40 minutes of time (but at a cost of 50 yuan extra)

We took the Mag Lev ride just to experience the speed not to specifically go anywhere. It was easy to book a ticket and a comfortable ride. You dont feel like you are travelling at 432kms per hour. Worth a look if you are a speed demon!!

The maglev is quiet, smooth and relatively in expensive. It’s just too bad it doesn’t go all the way to the city center. It takes only 8 minutes or less to complete the circuit from the metro station to the airport. There is plenty of space for luggage.

You can either get to the airport by taxi (very expensive), bus (cheap, but very long ride), subway (very cheap, and too many transfers, not to mention even longer than the bus ride), or maglev. They post the speed in each car, which breaks the 300 km/hr barrier. It's a bit more expensive than other modes of transport, but the time is around 30 minutes, which is much, much faster than the closest alternative. Well worth the experience. It gives you an idea of just how big this city of probably 36,000,000 people actually is.

I will bet that someone before me has used that title; I don't care. It's staying. This is the most perfect way there could be to get the distance from the airport to downtown. Easy to navigate, fast (very, very fast) and not expensive. We watched the speed climb on the indicator and couldn't believe it. It left me wondering why NYC doesn't have one of these from JFK and Newark to downtown NYC. Oh, well. When you're blasting past cars on the roads as if they were parked, you will know what I mean. Nicely done.
