Our tour here was enjoyable enough but it was very crowded which made the narrow spaces difficult to navigate with kids.
Beautiful gardens and architecture.

Visited Yu Garden with friends. Small entrance fee, you buy the ticket next to the entrance. Fairly crowded but you could find areas that were less crowded and has the calm feel of a garden. The lucky bridge was packed. Overall worth a visit.

A bit crowded, but quite lovely. We were lucky as a small opera group was there and we were allowed to watch them perform. There were not as many flowers as I would have liked but I was there in early March and I understand not much has bloomed at this time. There were birds in the gardens and as an avid birdwatcher this was one of the only places I visited that I was not disappointed by lack of bird activity. This is a lovely area in an otherwise bustling, high rise, constantly being built city. I was told a new sky scraper goes up every day in Shanghai. There is a population of 24 million in Shanghai ( California the most populate US state has 27 million in the entire state and Missouri has 6 million for comparison). Shanghai feels like 24 million.

The price is kinda steep. 40 yuan. The place is beautiful and vast. I highly enjoyed walking through. It gets very, very crowded so try to get there early. Even on week days.

The garden is behind the Chengaung Miao BaZoar and surrounded by the modern city. It is a interlude of peace. It contains many old buildings of beautiful design. There are walkways, bridges, ponds, treek and flowers.
