Francisco Brennand is one of the most important living artists in Brazil. His ceramic sculptures are really beautiful and can be seen throughout Recife. But it is here that the visitor can (try to) fully understand his art. The place is huge, with hundreds of sculptures both recent and decades old. It is one of the most amazing places I've ever been.

I had desired know this place since some friends of mine told about it and the experience was better than I expected.
Francisco Brennand is a singular artist that created a particular world with his paintings and ceramic sculptures. He applied a lot of sensuality in every piece he produced and demonstrated a strong worries about the act of creation.
Walk through a surreal garden, temple and galleries installed on an old ceramic factory.
See the vases and tiles and feel yourself astonished within Brennand's world.

Never a fan of "arts" too far fetched "nonsense", but I quite like this one. It's more like a kid's imaginary creations, bizarre and cute at the same time. Some headless roasted chicken look alikes were what I found most interesting. The whole setting with castle like buildings and "weird" sculptures you will feel like walking in a wonderland. The museum is 3km from a bus station you need to call a uber or hitchhike. And if you go to the reef in the Recife city, there is a cute snake statue just with some curves above the ground (imaging it's going above and under through the ground), literally like a kindergartner's masterpieces:D And the tower is like from a fantasy movie which is quie unique to see in a city. From the brochure Francisco is already 89 years old, wow, hope you're all well, Francisco, I like your work and I send you a big hug :D

An amazing experience. I had not heard of Brennand but his work is remarkable, whimsical, prodigious and a smorgasboard created by a real master. His works are displayed outdoors where you can stroll around several acres of garden and indoors in a gallery/workshop. Brennand is in his 80's but occasionally walks the site and chats with the visitors. You quickly realize that one of his main themes is that everything begins with an egg. If you go to Recife and miss this you will have missed a real treat!
