Located at the back of India Gate, built on red sandstone and constructed by British architect Edwin Lutyens. The construction of this structure was (presumably) inspired by a 6th century Mahabalipuram Pavilion in South India. Not considered a real touristic spot except for the area it is located. Get some quick shots and move on to your next spot.

I would never have known that this edifice was called the 'canopy' short of coming across it's name in TA not least as there is nothing at or near this mounument that tells you what it's called - indeed there is something of a dearth of info' nearby - BUT the whole of this area as you pass by the canopy through India Gate and then on to the Chowk and the parliament buildings is all very scenic, full of historic elements and content and well spaced out so not too crowdy. this is the place for photos.

A must visit area if in New Delhi.

Canopy is located just at the back of India Gate. Nothing great in it. Earlier staue of George V was installed inside, long which has been removed. Good place to take few pictures. In case you are visiting India Gate than you can see this place also.

The history behind this is unknown to me and may be to lot of others too. It is adjacent to India gate and everyone must have seen this while walking on the India Gate circle.

Canopy is a monument beside India Gate. There is nothing special about it. If you are visiting India Gate, you can take some photographs with Canopy also. You can easily reach India gate by Delhi metro (get down at Central Secretariat Metro Station).
