Very sad to see this previously vibrant and interesting destination has become a slum. Last visit was 1999 and then it was full of life, vibrant people and interesting shops. June 2018 and it's really broken.

Stayed at a hotel in the area for 3 days on my recent visit to Delhi with family. The hotel was very close to New Delhi railway station which was very convenient. However the are is very crowded and quite unsafe during late evening.
If you are looking for a quite place to spend your time the please avoid Paharganj.

Many shops along the road, the traditional ones or the franchise ones, near the Cottage Ganga Inn. Have been strolling in this street along the night around 10 pm. Just don't wear anything precious. Just wear somethin' casual and blend with the people. Nice place to visit.

Planned to explore this place as i had a lot about the market.

This place is conjusted and dirty with dingly roads and Houses. There are many shoos offering stoles , clothes and other stuff at affordable rates.

Therr are hotels and being near to the railway station people prefer to stay here. Only a few hotels can be considered good rest are not to maintained.

For what you should visit this place?
Diwan chand sita ram chole bhature. Famous since years... And services one of the best chole bhature in India.

Nearest metro station is Rk ashram...

I stayed in this area while visiting Delhi, and this turned out to be a good choice. Lots going on all the time, with great street food, lots of roof top bars and markets. You are able to buy everything from clothes, spices, food, jewelry and much more, and at low prices due to their being lots of locals.
There is a small square in the market with lots of roof top bars / restaurants, GREAT view for sunset.
