We found the eco-camp to be clean, comfortable, welcoming, and in a great location - a really unique experience for anyone to have in Israel and wishing to see the desert. I'd definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. Next time, we'll bring our own wood to make a fire! But even if you don't have any, you can sit and chat to other groups who have one going - a great way to meet other travelers. The only thing I found a little off was that on the website it mentions that as people come to the desert to get away from the noise of the city (and I was certainly looking forward to that) but people were playing loud music right up to 11pm.

Thank you Sarah for your review. We are glad that you enjoyed your time with us.
As mentioned on our website we strictly forbid playing music in our Eco-Camp without permision. Yet we can't be everywhere all the time and unfortunately sometimes people do not respect our rules. If you could address to us on time we would have stoped them.
Sorry for the inconvenience, we hope to see you again.

Very basic amenities, and everything was clean and tidy.
I really enjoyed staying here, as our room had a lovely view of the Ramon crater, and we had a lovely vista of the desert. The people were very accommodating and hospitable.
It was quite, and the perfect place to stay in the desert.

We stayed for 1 night with another family.
the hospitality was warm & friendly.
Due to the cold weather, we got green light to have our dinner at the lobby, which was great! The lobby is nice & an excellent place to hang around. at the bar there is a pot with hot tea, for all guests, which is nice.

At morning we ate our lunch outside & it was perfect.

Showers & toilets are clean.

1 remarks:
The kitchen: there are counters great for preparations, but there is only 1 stove with 4 tops, which is far from being sufficient for all guests who are cooking and we were a lot of people who wanted to cook. I have remarked this to the representative, who answered me with lack of patient, that this is enough....
part of the fun staying in such places is to self-cook. its a bit hard with the given conditions.

Ayal thank you for your review. We are sorry if we've been impatient.
You are definitely right that cooking for yourself is part of the fun of our Eco-Camp. We are working hard to improve our amenities all the time. Hopefully on your next visit we will have more cooking stoves available.

Staying at Desert Shade was one of the highlights of my trip to Israel. It's located a 10 minute walk from town, right on the edge of the crater with fantastic unobstructed views. The common area is a beautiful, comfortable place to hang out and the dorm room I stayed in was comfortable with warm bedding provided for the January weather. I would love to come back and stay longer next time.

Simple yet with all basic comforts available, this eco lodge provided us with a truly peaceful few days. Situated just by the biggest crater in the world, it boasts incredible views - sunset, sunrise and star gazing all included. Great owners with free mint tea in communal area and also well
Priced locally produced wines from the Negev region.
