We booked a 5 night stay here with friends over New Year. We were picked up by a shuttle service (luckily we spotted our hotel sign at the pier as we hadn’t been told we would receive a shuttle service) - which took us back to the hotel.
The hotel location itself is out the way of Phi Phi village, by about 10min walk (which has its pros and cons) but it was a real hike (an actual hike) up into the forest. The views were amazing, but were the only real selling point of the hotel.
We paid for a basic bungalow with AC, which really was VERY basic. The room was actually the size of the double bed, and the bathroom was a wet room, which didn’t drain well so the floor was constantly wet. Only towels/water and a safe were provided in the room (no storage space for clothes or fridge),and the water was not replaced after the first day. We had to extend one night, and upgrade to a deluxe room because the room we had initially booked was full. This was a much nicer experience and should have been the type of room we got in the first place for the money. There was a fridge/wardrobe and was much bigger.
Breakfast was well below average, toast and a tray of eggs and fruit available. Eggs often ran out before the end of breakfast and was not replaced. Staff also didn’t replace plates and we often had to wait and ask for someone to help.
The food and bar open during the day served overpriced meals/cocktails/beer - and manic loud music is blasted sporadically - occasionally Celine Dion made an appearance which was a nice change. Music can then constantly be heard from the beach parties and bars until about 3am (sometimes 5am.. unsure which days are REAL party days!?), and it is LOUD because you’re staying in wooden cabins.
Generally we found the staff okay, the language barrier was a real struggle at times but it felt as though they were just about holding the place together. The cleaners left my clothes on the floor a few times after cleaning/making the bed, which was VERY annoying when I’d left them on the bed beforehand.
Overall, the distance from the beach provided a little space from the crazy of the village but the hike was a little intense every time you wanted to leave/come back to the place. Views were great but everything else was below average, and seriously overpriced for what it was. Come here if you want super basic, lots of mosquitoes, party party and don’t mind a hike. Don’t come as couples or with kids looking for peace and quiet.
