We were upgraded so it's hard to know what our room would have been like at the bottom level. The room we had was a good size and was clean and good natural lighting. It was lovely to have a bathroom where the shower is separate and the water doesn't have to travel over the whole bathroom to get to the drain. The airconditioner worked well and staff were happy to give us a sheet when we found the duvet to be too hot. We didn't try breakfast because we ate out or in the room. One down side is that we weren't sure whether the fridge stayed on when we were out of the room - the icecream we had in the freezer didn't stay frozen but the milk seemed to keep okay. When we stayed it was a bit noisy at night with a band playing each night at the nearby night market - not something the hotel can control but they did offer to change the room for us when we asked about it. The swimming pool seemed clean and was a bonus for a hotel in this price range. Location is excellent if you want access to Saladan and there are many good eating places within walking distance.

We liked the Lanta Residence. The family room was big and spacious, with a balcony. We were. Wey comfortable there for a five night stay. Staff didn't pay much attention to us, except when we needed something. Lobby needs to be tidied. Pool was great though and we almost always had it to ourselves.

This simple, no frills hotel is located in walking distance from shops and restaurants in the northern most small town of Koh Lanta Yai.
The hotel has no restaurant and serves no breakfast.
It does have a small swimming pool on the rooftop.

Whilst ideally located near to the restaurants and shops in Saladan, to be honest we were a bit disappointed with Lanta Residence. The reception area is capacious but barren looking. The room wasn't nearly as crisp and fresh as advertised but dark and dingy. We found the bed too hard but they were more than happy to place a folded duvet under the bottom sheet and make it spongier for our shoulder area. The bathroom was also dingy with no hot water supplied to the sink and a very weak shower.

The rooftop pool was great but often difficult to get a lounger, some of which were broken and would only lie flat. There were no poolside toilets so you had to go back to your room which was a nuisance.

For some reason the lift played a tune on every floor whenever anyone got in or out of it so I'd advise getting a room as far away from the lift as possible.

I've rated this a 3 but if it was possible I would have picked 3.5. It's better than an Average but not quite a Good.

We originally planned on staying in Koh Lanta for two days, however we loved the place so much we extended to five, and stayed in this hotel the whole time. The hotel is located 15 minutes walk from Saladan Pier, and is a 1 minute walk from a buzzing street filled with restaurants, bars and market stalls.

For the five days we only saw two people running the hotel, they are both lovely, very helpful and speak good English.

The hotel is very clean, the rooms are comfortable they have a safety deposit box, good shower pressure, tea & coffee making facilities but no hair dryer. There is a roof top pool which is lovely and sun beds with pool towels. The fitness centre isn't great.

I would recommend this hotel, it's a great base, close to everything and value for money. I'm not sure I would call it a spa though.
