Nice location a bite from the pier and main town. Close needs a renovation, diffrent kind of bungalows, stayed at the "beachfront" very nice, but... Do need a heavy renovation. Staff do their best to help, very freindly. But still it needs a restoration and upgrade!!! A little noice from the road.

Returned to Ko Lanta for the second time, last visited in 2009.
Decided on the Saladan as our hotel of choice. One of the few budget hotels left that are actually on the beach. This resort is quiet as there are no resorts next to it. It is small and has a rustic look to it. Not luxurious but clean and well kept.
The food is excellent(try the pineapple fried rice) and although reports of high prices, in comparison to many other resorts, there was not a significant difference. Road side restaurants and hawker stalls were cheaper, but without a nice setting overlooking the sea.
This resort is a few minutes walk away from all the shops and restaurants and in the busiest part of the island. The island has now become quite commercial, with the building of one bridge and a second nearing completion. No doubt all the coaches will be soon arriving from Krabi, and the one time undiscovered island will change.
The cheapest way to explore is to rent a scooter from Saladan, about 150 Baht per day.
Helmets are compulsory, and there are police checks .500 Baht fine. Beware.
The pool here is great and very relaxing.
The management and staff used to run the Kaw Kwang Resort, so anyone who has stayed their will remember them. The service cannot be faulted and nothing is too much trouble for them. You just have to ask.
Overall a pleasant stay at a cheap resort in a quiet location in Saladan area.
There are many tuk tuks offering their service, the drivers wearing the vests are the only ones registered with the police, and have fixed fares. The others, you take your chances!!

Room Tip: Cheap rooms at the back. Sea views for prime location to beach.
