BEST HOTEL NEAR MUNNAR

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jan 31, 2015
One of the best hotel i stayed while travelling in Kerala. Hotel is quite inside forest and bit far from Munnar town. It is situated in heart of tea plantation, that's the i loved this hotel. visitors can visit Tea, Orange and Cardamom plantation and beautiful watchtower in center of Tea plantation.

Food is ok , nothing spl about it. service is quick. reception guys are very helpful. i will recommend this hotel to others. GO FOR IT.

Oh what a place. we (myself and my wife) had come reached here from spice garden resort on 21.1.15. we were put in tree top house which was awesome. the room and toilet were clean. the view was of lush tea garden with orange trees. there was also cardamon plantation. camp fire is there everyday . The food is superb. The morning breakfast which is complimentary was delicious with a good variety. The stay was absolutely fantabulous. this place would draw you back. Mr Santosh who is the Manager is a wonderful and helping person. any doubts, he is more than ready to help. the staff also gets special kudos. any staff u would see would immediately smile at u which makes u at ease.

go for it, . u will return fully charged.

Room tip: u have a choice of room with tea garden view or back side room and tree top room. all are so good. food is a choice of veg and non veg. breakfast is a delight.

We stayed in the tree house for 4 nights. It was lovely and relaxing to sit on the balcony looking over the tea plantation.

4 nights of this relaxation was a bit too much though and it was hard to justify the expense needed to stay here at high season. As other reviewers have said there really is very little to do here and the hotel is not particularly forthcoming with organizing trips. If you do stay here then I wold recommend having some idea of what you what to do before you come and booking it through a tour operator as organizing trips though the hotel was hard work (although the trip we did by jeep up to the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate was amazing)

The food was a buffet option at breakfast and dinner which was fine and a good chance to try different foods. If you wanted to order lunch or anything from the non-buffet menu you would be in for a long wait so if you have any particular dietary requirements its probably not for you. The dinning room was a strange area and not particularly atmospheric - it felt like eating in a canteen but not at canteen prices! Other restaurants are too far away so you are left with eating at the hotel.

Would also echo review below about card machine being "broken" so a stash of rupees is necessary.

Service very mixed, some really lovely staff but attitude of the management really lets it down.

Overall a nice stay if you get a good deal on it and plan your activities in advance.

Room tip: Tree houses are great but be prepared for steep steps up and try negotiate a better price.

As part of our Onam Festival Traveling in Kerala, we wanted to experience something different for a couple of days. We had heard a lot about tree houses. I was not sure whether my wife will like it.
Unfortunately we could reach there only in the night around 7.30 PM by the time it was very dark and little cold and my wife refused to take a chance in the night in an unknown place for new experience and we opted their superior category rooms which have awesome panoramic view of Western Ghats. Super...
While we were planning for Dream Catcher, Munnar, we wanted to spend at least two nights there and explore their Orange cultivation, Cardamom plantations, Tea plants, and other domestic organic plants.
We did it with the happiness and we used their Hammock for relaxing in the evening with snacks.

It was my gift to my wife for the Kerala's Traditional festival "Onam" even I was busy with my regular jobs find some time for family.
Dream Catcher were as good as any other star rated accommodation on Munnar which I have experienced. Its very nice to be there and they have lot of options in food.
We enjoyed our dinner, Breakfast, Lunch and snacks.
People were taken care of us very well and always smiley faces.
Highly recommended this hotel for a complete hide out from city crowed and traffic.

All the best to team Dream Catcher.....

Room tip: Tree houses are good to stay but have a lot of steps Old age people will not be comfortable.

Our group stayed 2 nights at the plantation, both having a Tree house and deluxe double room accommodation.

The overall property and tea plantation is nice on arrival. Though the plantation and block size is quite small you can easily see it all in 20 minutes. once you have done this there really isn't much else to do there, the closest shops would be a good 45 minutes walk, so you'd be forced to drive there. Theres nothing really else to do once you have seen the tea trees. The owner/manager sits around in the foyer greeting the guests and is quite nice but has a real smugness about himself ordering and bossing the other staff around. i would be too with the rates he's charging.

The tree house is average and feels safe but certainly not worth the money. Fair enough we visited in peak season but the rate far exceeds 5 star accommodation and is 3 star at best.
A total rip off in my opinion, you just sit up there looking around at a few tea leaves, there's really no other offerings then a bed and small bathroom. The hot water runs out within a few minutes and the build quality although safe honestly looks and feels like a dads attempt in the backyard and probably doesn't conform to any real building standards. clearly the property owners trying to cash in on a concept.

The deluxe rooms on the 2nd floor is nice and spacious and looks to have been built fairly recently. id recommend skipping the tree house and spending your money here.

Getting to and from the property is a good hours+ drive from the main road to Munnar town and is down a long windy, bumpy road, deep down in a gorge. People who suffer from motion/car sickness beware, getting to and from this place will certainly make you queasy. But in fairness driving around Munnar in general will make you queasy.

Everything about this place feels like its for the convenience of the owners. Dinner is when they want to cook and serve it to you. they'll call you up telling you what time dinner will be and what you want. the prices are fairly expensive, but you have no other choice but to pay as closest restaurants are a good hour or so away.

Be sure to carry a massive wad of rupees with you on checkout as conveniently the eftpos terminal wont work as the owner will conveniently not want to be charged the transaction fees.

I think the majority of positive reviews for this place are mostly from domestic travelers heading south on honeymoon.

Overall nice plantation but average stay. If your goal in Munnar is to do sight seeing around Munnar town and surrounding areas this is probably not the place you want to stay. If your goal is a few relaxing nights in a quite tea plantation in the middle on nowhere than its a good choice, but go in off season when it will be a lot cheaper.
