Luckily we arrived with a guide because this is one confusing town to navigate. The staff are lovely and it is a peaceful place, the wifi works and breakfast is good. However don't expect your room to be anything more than basic accommodation. Personally that is no problem and I like no frills and feeling like I am young again. I wouldn't be surprised if this is standard in the old town so don't be put off.

A lovely hotel with charming and helpful staff (very good English). Lijiang is very busy and the Zen Garden is a quiet oasis from the busy town - and the many drum shops. The rooms are well appointed, my bed was comfortable and the shower fine. Lots of cups of tea were offered and consumed. It was difficult to find at first as it is off the main street in an alley, but once there I was glad I discovered it.

Such a wonderful place with charming and kind staff. If you haven't been to Lijiang before, it can be pretty overwhelming, but this place is an oasis of peace. There is even a live llama outside the entrance to greet you. Stay here.

Beautifully appointed in a traditional way. Hotel staff were friendly and took lots of effort to make us feel comfortable. However bathrooms needed to be more maintained and shower could use more water. Although the hotel is well located for movement within the Lijiang Old and New Towns, the hotel is difficult to locate initially.

Room Tip: Hotel is difficult to locate initially. Should contact hotel to meet a the Old Town Gate.

Totally worth the climb to the top of the road for this lovely and antique hotel with a great staff and beautiful topiary gardens, great views of the city, quiet rooms and a great breakfast, antique furnishings. Like a flash back in time.

Room Tip: We had an inside room. It was lovely.
