My priority for visiting this place was Tiger Leaping Gorge. The Maple Leaf is located right in the Shuhe area or the old town. Much of the area is closed to vehicular traffic. The taxi driver dropped me at the wrong place. A call to Paul and he came on a motorbike to pick me up without any fuss or bother. A very small intimate hotel that is very bright and breezy with a relaxing area in the foyer. Trips organised, menus translated, nothing was a bother to either Paul or his wife, Sally. Really wonderful hosts and would recommend the hotel very highly to anyone who is visiting the area.
Only one small problem was the rooms seem to be insufficently heated. Electric blankets are provided for those who like to use them.

Room tip: As there are no vehicles and the area is very quiet, all rooms appear to be ok.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maple Leaf Inn. The staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke perfect English (thank you Sally and Paul!) They were always available to answer any questions. We booked a tour through them for Tiger Leaping Gorge and they also arranged for bicycle rentals - the ride to Baisha and beyond was a highlight.
The room was clean and comfortable, wifi worked great and breakfast was tasty. There is a pleasant enclosed courtyard where breakfast is served. The bathroom is clean and modern with an excellent shower and plenty of hot water; one thing to be aware of is that it is an open design - the shower is in the corner with no dividing wall or curtain, so most of the floor is wet after a shower but the floor dried quickly and we didn't find this to be much of an issue.
The location is great, near the front gate and convenient to the sights but quiet at night. Shuhe was a good choice rather staying in the much busier "old" town of Lijiang. We highly recommend Maple Leaf Inn!

The guesthouse is located near the main gate of Schuhe old town. The town is a smaller version of Lijang old town. The guesthouse has as entrance from two streets and is on two floors.I found it a very good base to explore the surroundings. The owners and all the staff were English speaking and very helpful. They arranged conveniently for bicycle/motorbike rent and other tips.
Rooms basic but sufficient. Breakfast OK.

I stayed here with a group for a few days and loved it. Will and his family provided us with great breakfasts and a wonderful welcome to this lovely town. The beds were great and comfortable and Will and the family were brilliant hosts. Did I mention the lovely banana bread for breakfast?
