The rooms are fine. Big, clean and I had the best night's sleep in years. Jim's is the antidote to modern hotel chains and we loved it. It's in a great location and Jim is a terrific host and as his English is excellent so we were able to learn lots about Dali and the area. We took one of his tours which was very enjoyable if a touch pricey. We even had our portraits sketched by his friend a local artist whilst we chatted over a beer or two. If you're looking for a fun experience rather than just a place to stay go to Jim's.

During our 3 weeks tour of yunan we had the best time in Dali and thanks to Jim. We felt soo comfortable that we ended up extended our stay twice. The hotel is quite yet near from the old town, clean and spacious rooms with a small but beautiful garden and ohhh,, the view point at the terrace with the breathtaking view of lake Erhai and the surrounding hills. Travel advice along with tibetan whisky was great and we really enjoyed it and i'm looking forward to visit again. Thanks to Jim, he is the man !!!

We Stayed here for one night to explore dali a bit. A big room with separate bath and sleeping room was impressive. Bathroom ok. Breakfast is 40 yuan with choice of egg +toast, pancake, coffee/tea, juice. Unlimited refill if necessary😉. Location outside old city walls, but very close.

We had a 2 BR suite which was lovely, and the garden and decor we really enjoyed.
But talking with Jim and other guests either over breakfast or after dinner is why you stay is delightful. I said in anothervreview that Jim is an oasis in a desert of English speakers.
Breakfasts are now excellent, and I think the girl playing with her mobile no longer works there.

Jim's Tibetan Hotel is like a mix between the best guest house you remember from backpacking when you were young and a confusing hotel you need as to get older. Perfect location, large rooms, tibetan vibe, serviceable bathrooms, and good talks with the owner late at night. We 50 yr old loved it, and our grown kids also. Be nice to Jim and he'll share his Tibetan whiskey!
