I only recognized this hotel from the photos and the location. In May 2014, it was called the Karez Hote, yes, with the L missing. This should have given us an indication of its lack of maintenance. Management needs to shape up! They did not know in the afternoon which rooms were ready. Ours had unmade beds, dirt and glass on the floor and 20 empty beer bottles lined up on the desk. They gave us a different room, of course. The bathroom smelled of mildew because they never took up the rubber mats that prevent you from slipping on the tiles.

I did not give it a terrible rating because it could be nice hotel with better maintenance and I liked the location.

The hotel is interesting as it's connected to the Karez Underground Irrigation System Museum. Feels exotic and unlike any other parts of China.
Location is convenient as it is near most of the attractions (short ride away) like the Grape Valley, Flaming Mountains, Jiaohe Ancient Town & the Uyghur folk village.
Basic hotel but clean, comfortable and have got everything you need. TV, hair dryer, electric kettle, water heating in shower works well.
No wifi. No elevator in the hotel.
Do not expect too much of the food (only Chinese fare) or service and you will be fine.
It was alright for me as I speak Mandarin and likes Chinese food but can be challenging to international guests.

This hotel is a hotel that is part of the Kanerjing Underground Irrigation Museum. There is no sign and appears to cater to Chinese tour groups. It's a nice enough hotel with clean rooms, air conditioning and modern showers/bathrooms. The breakfast is typical Chinese - though I would avoid the friend rice (I think one of our fellow travelers got a little ill eating the dish for breakfast).

There is very weak wi-fi in the lobby and none in the rooms. Also no elevators.

Room Tip: Second floor gives you views of local homes - you will see that most locals sleep outside on the roof at night.

clean hotel with a very good location, unfortunately also this hotel is not ready to welcome international guests because nobody speaks or understands one word of English and the restaurant only provides typical Chinese breakfast
