We had a wonderful trip around China for three weeks+ and came to this resort hotel towards the end of our special wedding anniversary trip to relax for three nights. When we went to the first room it wasn't a deluxe River View room at all. We went back to reception and asked for the Deluxe River View room we booked. We were told to look at another room and this had a glimpse of the river. We wanted to relax and watch the bamboo rafts floating down the river. We went back to reception and were rudely told that in this hotel there are no river view rooms at all!! it was not true as when we walked round we could see lovely rooms with views and we had paid for one of these. The staff were very rude, only one could speak English and she avoided us completely. Even though we had been very pleasant with her. The spa was also closed!! It was disappointing as so many hotels had made the effort to make our stay with them so special. The resort itself is lovely but not staff at reception. Food not good either so we had to eat out each night.. Very disappointing..

Room tip: You can try to get a River View - but I doubt it.

We had a couple of nights and a rest day here during a busy China tour itinerary - initial impressions were very positive but but we left feeling disappointed.
On the positive side, the rooms are large and comfortable, with most having views over lush gardens towards the river or limestone cliffs behind. The grounds and pool are also pleasant and there are 2 nice bar areas with outside seating. The restaurants offer varied cuisine (but see below) at reasonable prices and the breakfast buffet is OK.
Problem is that service and facilities don't live up to the potential and specifically:
* Poor service in the bar - no pool service available
* One restaurant closed and other only served a few local dishes after 8.30pm
* Spa facilities and fitness centre mainly closed
* Hotel shuttle bus only goes half way to town centre/shops during the daytime
All this meant that, rather than being a relaxing couple of days, we felt isolated from Yangshuo but not catered for within the hotel.
This was a real shame as, with a few more staff and better attention to services and standards, this would be an ideal stop over for tourists touring in the area.

Had been worried about our stay here after reading Tripadvisor reviews, but need not have worried....we had a very enjoyable 2 days here. The resort is large! 8 blocks linked by covered walkways, 3 storeys high. The first room 5201 we were shown was very dark due to a huge tree directly outside obscuring any view, but the hotel immediately showed us 7311, which was light, airy with a lovely view of the river and limestone karsts. It was their cheapest grade, but still large and had the advantage of an enclosed bathroom....the larger suites have open plan ones. Our bathroom was large, with tub and separate shower cubicle. The water pressure wasn’t great, and temperature not very hot, but managed to fill the bath in the end. Lots of hanging space inn the closet, but only 2 tiny drawers.
Bed was very very hard, but at our request they put an extra mattress on, and although still firm we slept well. They are obviously used to Westerners wanting softer beds than their Chinese clients.
Room had a kettle, but only very few teabags and coffee, no decaf and no creamer. We took a glass of milk from breakfast and kept it in the fridge.
Breakfast buffet is aimed at the 95%+ of their customers who are Chinese, but we found juice, fresh fruit, eggs cooked to order with ham, bacon etc, and cereals and bread, so nothing to complain about. We sat outside in the lovely gardens and really enjoyed it.
The staff don’t speak much English, but they were eager to please, and we had no difficulty in making ourselves understood
The whole hotel has been well refurbished after last year’s floods, and the swimming pool is huge. Gardens beautiful, and there is a lovely riverside walk from the hotel up to the launch point for the river rafts.
The hotel is about 4 km from Yangshuo town, but the hotel runs a free shuttle bus during the day We didn’t use it, preferring to enjoy the beautiful countryside surrounds.
Can’t see why this hotel has had so many poor reviews...we loved it.

We booked two rooms online this month. A day later the hotel informed us they were “sorry” to advise us that rates had increased with new rates c30% higher. Obviously we had ignored other hotels and therefore we had to go through another booking process. Technical glitch or opportunistic commercial move ? Wrong mindset in any case.

This stunning looking hotel is not what I expected to find in rural China. Set in amazing scenery next to a river. Our tour has been full on and this has been a welcome break. It is not busy as the National park have blocked most cars from coming here!! Our room is large and comfortable, the staff are very nice , the breakfast was average for China. With plenty of very good restaurants with in walking distance. We could easily have spent much longer here.
