Our guide recommended this restaurant for lunch in Bagan, and I’m so glad he did. I had the Bagan style curry, which was made with the pone yay gyi Black bean paste. It’s a fermented sauce with a salty, unctuous flavor, and the pork was really tender. This was also the first place we had Myanmar style salads, and the tomato salad was spot on. I know you’re supposed to be careful with salads while traveling, but I was willing to take the risk for this wonderful fresh salad with a peanut dressing. Wrapped it all up with a mango sticky rice - I know it’s Thai but the desserts do seem to be lacking in Myanmar - and overall one of my favorite meals of the whole trip. The girls working there were very attentive and the place is exceedingly cute - you enter and feel miles away from the hot and dusty temples.
