The museum is great for maybe a 30 minute walk through - especially with kids. It’s not too much information, but there’s interesting things to look at. My big complaint is the cost. It’s 20 Leve for a family ticket, when the castle family ticket is only 6. This price difference seems a little steep.

We heard a lot about this "multimedia" centre, and as it was very hot and sunny we decided to go in to cool ourselves.
It's not very expensive, but still too much for what it has offer.
I don't understand why it's called "Multimedia" as they only have a couple of touchscreens with some materials you can find on Wikipedia.
You don't have too much to learn from it and the tour is short - 20 minutes max.

The Visitor Centre is located very close to the Tsarevets Fortress and it is a good idea that these two places be visited on the same day for a better picture of the life in medieval Bulgaria.
The centre is actually a museum with real-size figures, made of silicone, of historical figures and major events from the history of Bulgaria. You can see how the homes' interior of the various groups of the society in the Second Bulgarian Kingdom looked like - the king, the boyars, the warriors, the craftsmen and the peasants. A small info board is there for each display.
The ticket can be considered as a little expensive (10 leva per adult - 5.10 €) but the exhibition is definitely worth it. They also offer family tickets of 20 leva (10.20 €).
Taking photos inside costs 5 leva (2.60 €) which I deem not correct - it should be either allowed or prohibited!

The puppet dolls are from the dark ages of technology (think 1960s). This place detracts from Tsarevets Fortress and badly needs revamping and bringing into the 21st century.

Today was bucketing rain so we looked for something unplanned to do and came across this.
It was interesting and a great presentation BUT it was overpriced for how many displays were there. I expected it to be much bigger...
You also have to pay if you want to take photographs.
Still, it helps you see what life was like back then. English blurbs are available.
