Just spent a fantastic week in Borovets at the Alpin Hotel. Our ski instructor, Vanya, was key to the week being so great. She is a wonderful instructor, patient when necessary but will definitely push you when you are ready. The food in the hotel was good. As a vegetarian, I was very happy with the choices available. Our villa was perfectly positioned and it only took a few minutes to walk to the slopes. I would definitely recommend this hotel and ski school.

We stayed at this hotel from 21 to 28 Feb 2016.

I made the booking directly with the hotel through email. Donka, the reservations manager was very helpful organising the stay at the hotel, meals in the attached restaurant bar and the hire of equipment & instructor at the ski school.

The hotel itself is small as regards the number of rooms but it has a number of chalet beside the hotel. They come in different sizes and are perfect for a skiing holiday. The hotel and chalets are right beside the slopes and lifts. When I day beside I really mean beside. I took about 30 steps to get from my chalet to the ski school.

The hotel was clean and warm. Control of the heating is with the guest. The chalet are very well insulated and therefore retain heat very well. Rooms were cleaned every day. There is a sauna in the bathroom of the chalet. We were given 3 hours free use with extra time available for purchase at reception.

The staff were very friendly and all speak very good English.

On the day we were leaving we also went skiing. The hotel looked after our luggage and provided us with showers and changing facilities when we finished. This was very helpful.

There is a restaurant/bar attached to the hotel. It is titled as an English bar but it is really an Irish bar. Anywhere that has "cead mile failte" written on the door is an Irish bar. All the food is solid Irish / British and is well prepared. If the evening meal package is chosen then a menu is presented every night for the following evening. There is a good selection for everyone with children and vegetarian included. Staff are very friendly and speak more or less perfect English.

There is a ski school owned by the hotel. It is called Alpin Ski School. They provide equipment and instructors. I brought my own skis etc. so I asked them to check my bindings and skis. They did this straight away without any fuss. My friend was checked out and fitted for skis and poles. The people there spoke English and were very friendly. They wanted to help out. The instructors all seemed to have a good relationship with their students.
I have to put in a special word of thanks and praise for our instructor. Vanya was our allocated instructor and she was just super. She went out to ensure that we enjoyed ourselves on the slopes while constantly monitoring our safety. All skiing maneuvers were well explained and demonstrated to us before we tried them. She is from the area and was able to tell us about the mountains and the ski runs available. Any student who is lucky enough to get Vanya as an instructor will have a great time skiing.

Transport to and from Sofia was arranged through the hotel. Drivers were friendly and careful. Stop on the road and buy the honey made the the locals (made by bees, collected by locals) as it is very good.

The important question is would I stay there again. The answer without having to think is yes, absolutely yes.

A close to piste location, and beautifully appointed hotel and apartments. Attentive, helpful & friendly staff, genuinely wishing to make your stay more comfortable.

The only things that would have improved our stay would have been a kettle in our room (kettles in rooms is not the Bulgarian way, apparently), and comfortable easy chairs in the apartment. Those provided were of the foldout to make an additional single bed variety, which is useful, but they're not comfortable as a lounge chair without using bed pillows to provide back support.

But these are tiny areas for improvement, and didn't detract from a very enjoyable stay in a wonderful niche luxury hotel.

This was our second stay at Alpin Hotel, we were there last year and booked immediately for this year on our return. We have stayed in the chalets on both occasions which are excellent for families and proximity to the slopes. They are always spotlessly clean and warm and perfectly adequate for your needs. The staff at the hotel are wonderful and it was great to see so many of the same faces again this year.
Asking around during our three visits to the resort, we have been told again and again that Alpin Hotel has the best food and we would agree. The restaurant is very busy both lunchtime and evenings with guests outside the hotel as words obviously got round! Residents of the hotel always have a reserved table for dinner though so no issue there.
Entertainment in the evening is provided by a singer with a keyboard and he does provide a great atmosphere. We can't recommend this hotel highly enough and hope to return again soon.

Room tip: All the chalets and rooms are a great location for the slopes.

Wow what a great location.
We stayed in chalet 4 and it was perfect for myself, husband & 2 boys. It was literally 30 seconds to the slopes.

The chalets have a great little entrance with a ski rack etc, so you don't have to return all your ski equipment to the depot everyday. We just took them back to the chalet with us and handed them back in our last day. Giving us much more freedom for example On a couple of nights after dinner we decided to get a night ski pass and go out skiing again for a couple of hours.

The breakfast was lovely. Choice of pastries, toast or a cooked breakfast.

Evenings meals were perfect, nice big portions too which is what you need after s full days skiing. Lovely deserts too.

You do have to pay for your drinks but they are really really reasonably priced.

On the last day our coach left at 8am so we had to miss breakfast. When we popped the key back the staff had made us up a picnic to take with us, it was really thoughtful.

A really enjoyable holiday. Would highly recommend Alpin Hotel Chalets.
