This is a review of the venue -- NOT of the positively awful show I saw there ("The Nance", 23 June 2018). It is in the heart of Old Town, with a pleasing brick facia that blends well with the historical buildings in the neighborhood. Good acoustics. Comfortable seats. Intimate, but not claustrophobic size. The sound system was fine. The lights were up to the task. The ushers were friendly. There was on-street parking just around the corner. Visitors should not count on this though. I think we just got lucky.
This is a small community theater just below the main "drag" of Old Town Alexandria. They do a variety of shows and have season tickets. We attended a recent production of the musical "The Fabulous Lipitones," about a barbershop quartet. Not great singing (hey, I'm a barbershopper), but good acting and enjoyable. Had never been here before, but would go back.
There is a very small anteroom, but a large room to the side for receptions. No parking lot, so parking is everyone for themselves on the street.
What a wonderful night. We attended a performance here for my sisters birthday. First didn't even know this theater existed. The staff is amazing the shows are fantastic and very conveniently located near great restaurants. This is a must if you want to see a quality performance without paying a fortune.
If you want great acting, fun shows, and easy to walk to, by season tickets , 6 shows to LTO for under $300.00 for a season(2 people) I have held them with friends for five years. It is a great way to see friends, and survive the winter!
Some of the best community theater in the DC area, located in historic Old Town Alexandria, a destination in its own right. A small theater (about 240 seats). Actors, sets and musicians are excellent quality, and the price is right. (We paid $30 for a Sunday matinee.) Reserve ahead for best seating, but all seats are acceptable and acoustics are excellent. Parking can be an issue, and nearest parking lots are several blocks away. Arrive early to ensure that you can park successfully. A great neighborhood for theater and lunch or dinner.
I have never seen a bad performance at The Little Theatre of Alexandria. The only reason I give them a 4 star vs a 5 is that the leg room between the seats is a bit cramped and I am only 5'8".
