You've got to be really good to put the above phrase right on the outside of your restaurant. Rudy's has nothing to worry about. Meat-oak-smoked, tender, juicy and excellent! My favorite, the St. Louis Baby Back Ribs. Second favorite, the moist brisket. You've got to try their creamed corn--the best ever.
Family friendly, and the squeakiest clean restaurant you've ever seen!

One of the first places I ate at after moving to Austin 11yrs ago- some new friends said we were going to eat at a gas station! The baby back ribs and extra moist briscuit is among the best I have had, and you put the sauce on yourself to your liking- it is spicy. Always quick to pick up on the way home, but only open to around 9 or 10pm.
Yes, this is a chain, but only in Texas to the best of my knowledge.

You can't come to Austin and not eat at Rudy's. Very impressed with the brisket.
The ribs weren't my favorite, but everything else - sides, desert, service were top notch.

This place is extremely unique. It's got the feel of a small general store, complete with gas station out front and a small convenience store in the front. They'll point you toward the counter where, if you tell them you're a first timer, they'll allow you to sample their selection of any carved meats and sides (after shouting to the whole kitchen staff that you're a "rookie"). The staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and chatty. Pull up a seat at any of the picnic tables and catch a game on TV.

I tried a 1/4 lb of the moist brisket and a 1/4 of the lean brisket. Both were excellent but the moist brisket was AMAZING.

The only small disappointment was the side selection. They had pinto beans, potato salad, new potatoes, and creamed corn. They didn't have green beans, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese or any of the BBQ favorites I've grown accustomed to. Nonetheless, the new potatoes were delicious.
