What an amazing place to visit. Westcave is peaceful nature preserve tucked away in the hills. The park is small and intimate and you get to see a lot of wild life. The guided tour down to the grotto is a must - our guide Ryan was fantastic and not only taught us about the flora and fauna of Westcave but also of all the great conservation work the center does. The grotto is so peaceful and the hike is relatively easy as long as you are comfortable on steps. We even got lucky and met an armadillo along the way. I also enjoyed the uplands trail and spent some time bird watching. Really glad I made the drive out and look forward to visiting again someday.

I use to play in the waterfalls, pools and explore the caves as a teenager and I was ALWAYS taken in by the beauty of the unusual plants and trees in this nature valley. Beautiful caves, water holes, hidden away in the country. This is a place kids can learn why natural should be protected for all to see and enjoy. Once almost an unknown area of a private ranch is now protected by the park systems with schedule times for tours. You won't be disappointed and the kids will be awed.

The walk down there was a bit slow for my kids and I but the view definitely made up for it! Don't expect to swim but it's worth the walk to see the beauty of it.

This was my favorite part of the Dripping Springs experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Her enthusiasm about plant and wild life was infectious. The grotto at the end of the trail was breathtaking. A magical place. Advance reservations are a must. The guided tours book up.
