There are cheaper hotels around the area but I chose to return to Manila Lotus Hotel as I'm familiar surroundings. Greeted by the security guys who double as doormen with a warm "Welcome Back Sir". Check in process went along just fine with the usual refundable P1,000 security deposit. Was assigned Room 318 (3rd floor) as the elevator was being serviced (it remained out of service for 3 days) Had help with lugging my baggage up to the room. Note, this is now a non-smoking hotel.
Room
Clean, bed comfy and air conditioner works fine. TV also works.
Amenities
Instant coffee and tea bags with sugar and creamer with a hot water kettle,
small refrigerator. 2 glass tumblers and 2 sets of cup and saucer.
Restroom
Hand lotion and soap dispenser and Hair Dryer at the sink and shower had Bath Soap and shampoo dispenser. Toilet Paper and bidet available
It used to be that the rooms also came with 2 bath towels and 2 face towels, now there's only 2 bath towels. Also little things like dental and shaving kits are only made available upon request from the housekeeping people of front desk.
Food - Breakfast buffet that comes with the room is still good, but I did notice that they had cut back on food options. Didn't see any bacon during my whole 9 day stay. Also the iconic Mr. Vic is no longer there to greet everyone...There are cheaper hotels around the area but I chose to return to Manila Lotus Hotel as I'm familiar surroundings. The only thing that bugged me is that on 3rd Sept after there was quite a heavy downpour, I returned to the room late at night I found a puddle of water between the window and bed. Apparently there's a leak somewhere, the only thing that housekeeping could do was to towel dry and leave towels by the wall next to the window.
All in all a good stay, but will be checking out other hotels for my next visit to ManilaMore
