My family and I spent 10 nights at the resort in December 2020 as part of a three week vacation in the Maldives. SAii Lagoon is a relatively new resort and neighbour to the Hard Rock Resort in the Crossroads development.
Of the three resorts we visited, the others being The Standard (terrible) and Sun Siyam Iru Veli (very good albeit with the some food issues), SAii Lagoon was the standout resort.
Great rooms - we had two beach villas right on the beautiful beach; excellent food options with many restaurants scattered across the resort; wonderful snorkelling on the house reef and a superb dive centre, where my children developed their snorkelling skills under Jerry's tutelage.
The quality of service across the board is exceptional. Talhath and Afa in the front office are exceptionally helpful, the general manager Patrick, is very present and on the ball, the chefs at breakfast deserve a special mention for their friendly demeanour and great egg dishes and dosas.
The spa in the Crossroads complex is noteworthy for high quality treatments at sensible prices. And, we enjoyed cycling around the resort on the shared bikes scattered across the island.
Guests at the two resorts are able to use the facilities at the other. The Hard Rock pool is lively but does resemble a Love Island set. Breakfast at Hard Rock provided a welcome change, but after a couple of days we found ourselves reverting to the warm welcome at the SAii Lagoon breakfast.
The main negative of the stay was the uniformly poor attitude of the staff at the Hard Rock property. Even their transportation buggy drivers were incredibly rude and unhelpful. I mentioned this to the SAii Lagoon GM and it transpires that this has been a recurrent observation among his guests, but the Hard Rock is managed separately and little can seemingly be done.
The resort is accessible by boat from Male but is far enough away. In fact, from the SAii Lagoon resort, Male is not visible at all, but the Hard Rock villas do face the main island.
Overall, I highly recommend this resort, especially for families looking for a resort with a large number of dining and activity options.
