KL Bird Park is promising, i hope they will step up their game in terms of infrastructure and the variety of birds they showcase. Not as many birds like that of Singapore BP so manage your expectations. Highlight of the trip is the parrot feeding (be careful , you might get tiny scratches on your arm if they land on it, 2 ringgit for a cup of honey and milk) and the big bird feeding-free, aside from that not too much. Bring water, hat or an umbrella during your visit. If you have a working visa in Malaysia, better bring your paper (that with a redstamp) so you can have a 50% discount on the ticket.

Seeing so many birds in such a small area was distressing. The feathers on the peacocks, ostriches and emus all seemed to be in very poor condition, as though they have been pulling out their own feathers. The emus certainly need a much larger pen where they can actually run around and display natural behaviours. We didn't like it and our kids thought it was cruel. If you are concerned about animal welfare I'd give this a very wide berth.

This was a very pleasant surprise. Very large number of birds, mostly well labelled. Birds of all types from all continents; some are caged, many are roaming free as the entire park is covered in netting. We had never before seen so many peacocks! We also enjoyed the various educational displays on eggs, hatcheries, etc. Our only disappointment was the half hour bird show. It was pathetically simple and was not a learning experience if you hoped to get more information than was printed at the enclosures.

KL Bird Park is like a hidden diamond in the middle of skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur - nice, clean and very well maintained park with plenty of birds walking and flying around the park. Area is quite big and it takes 2-3 hours to walk through this. It is possible to buy bird food and feed the birds. This place was a pleasant surprise and our family really enjoyed spending our time there.
