Stayed here as part of an organised tour. This was by far the best hotel on our tour. Everyone in the tour group loved it. The location was very convenient for the shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and efficient and the breakfast was amazing with great views as well. There is also a wonderful coffee shop on the ground floor that does wonderful afternoon teas with a mixture of tourists and locals seem to use. You can also buy the cakes to takeaway as an indulgent treat. On departure the staff stood outside with a big farewell banner and gave us a big send off which was a nice touch. The rooms were a good size and the range of complimentary toiletries was fantastic you can see from my photo. Also you got lovely paper crane in your room as well which we still have at home - they survived the journey!! Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Kyoto. We loved our stay here and wished we could have spent more nights in Kyoto.

The hotel is very nice ,rooms a decent size.Very comfortable bed .Breakfast buffet excellent though the omelets are undercooked .The main problem is its extremely noisy ,it is in the downtown area close to city hall and every night at least twice ,police cars pull over people and make the most tremendous racket waking you up.

Room Tip: High floor room ,bring earplugs

It was a great experience in 17th floor of the hotel, a round table with live kitchen. Great experience and tasty hot food prepared right in front of you and served. It was a completely new experience, not like your grills where food is already half cooked and you heat it, it was all raw vegetables and raw meat being prepared in front of you. Delicious food.

Good location, clean hotel with excellent staff. The room was not as large as others I had on my trip but was adequate.Nice views from room.

The breakfast buffet is wonderful featuring both Japanese and Western styles. The bell staff was very helpful as I asked them to ship my luggage to Tokyo so I did not have to take it on bullet train.

We travelled around Japan with several architecture fans and have enjoyed excellent accommodation at all tour hotels.
The Hotel Okura is outstanding for its location.
Its rooms are very large and comfortable, breakfast is included in the tariff and the buffet choices offered are extraordinary.
The staff are lovely, so helpful in every way.
Highly recommended.
