The gate opens and a traditional and beautiful Japanese house greets you. Once you enter this place, you are magically taken away to another world. From the traditional sliding doors, to the gorgeous paintings on the walls and then the grand Samurai Armour on display. You can't help but stand in awe. The hosts in true Japanese manner are very polite and welcoming. You then get to put on a 'Hakama'. A traditional Japanese clothing worn by the Samurai. You feel like a kid in a candy shop. You are given a tour of the house, and are told about it's history and about it's former Samurai owner. You are then led to another sliding door and it's time to meet the 'Master'. The door opens and it begins...

An absolutely wonderful and memorable experience. Two thumbs up to the team. Excellent customer service.

The Samurai experience was such a great day, from the host coming to get you to how welcoming they are, the Master was encouraging us to take photos and asks questions as often as we liked, the instructions were well explained. If I could do it each day while I was there I would have. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Kyoto. Getting to be inside a 150 plus year old Samurai house was just brilliant. Thank you to all involved.

Interesting experience in a 250 year old Samurai home, and informative insight into the Samurai tradition. Handling the katana was the highlight as we followed the Master’s specific instructions. It’s all much harder than it looks but we managed to slice through the bamboo mat roll! Shojo our translator was lovely and very good with all our questions. All in all an integral part of the Kyoto experience.

While in Japan my girlfriend surprised me booking the Kyoto Samurai Experience and the whole experience was a dive in Japanese traditional culture.
We were picked up at the subway station by Shogo, one of the surprisingly young and knowledgeable staff and English translator, who walked us to the KSE place, inside a former Samurai house of Kyoto. Once I was dressed up in traditional samurai clothes, the small group (5 people in total) was introduced to master Tabata, who explained us about Samurai culture, Katana and thought us the basic movements to strike with this deadly sharp sword. As if this wasn't already exciting, I had the chance to try the newly learned move and cut a straw pipe!! It was a thrilling experience. Afterwards Master introduced us to some very basic Zen meditation and made us relax and try meditate ourselves helped by the hypnotic sound of musical bells. This was a calming and soothing moment, after all the adrenaline built up trying the Katana.

The whole day was absolutely spotless, everything was run very smoothly, the all staff members were young and knowledgeable and extremely kind and delightful....they even presented me with a cute Sakura birthday card...so sweet :-)!!

It was a pleasure and a honor witness how the young staff and master are passionate in spreading and preserving the Japanese culture. I cannot do anything else but recommend them to anyone!!!
