We had a last minute stopover at the Mystays Sapporo Aspen after our flight was cancelled due bad weather, and we couldn’t get another flight out for 2 days. Very close to Sapporo JR station where the train from New Chitose airport comes in. The underground tunnel system from the station that brings you up right next to the hotel, which is a godsend when there’s a blizzard howling outside. Room was small (a standard for Japan) and a little dated but clean and comfortable. Check in was friendly and efficient, and we had no reason to deal with the staff after that. A suggestion for improvement would be to provide some international TV channels such as BBC World & CNN, otherwise it had everything we needed for an unplanned visit to Sapporo.

Hotel location is very good as it is only about 5 minute away from the Sapporo station. Breakfasts were good with reasonable variety. Customer service at the reception counter was ok, but was very rigid to certain requests. Overall not a bad hotel to accomodate vacation travellors. Rooms were bigger than expected.

After booking a queen size deluxe room we arrived to find the room the size of a postage stamp.
The bed was against the wall. No room to put your suitcase except on the bed then under the table . There was 1 chair in the corner. The other person had to sit on the bed. To come back after a days sightseeing and feel hemmed in and totally uncomfortable was super disappointing. There was no where to hang clothes except for 2 hooks in the very narrow entrance. Just no where to move. At AUD$230 a night I thought it would be better.
I asked the front desk to order us a taxi as that is what it said to do and they told us to walk to the station and get one. There had been taxis coming in and out all day and I was very polite.

I don’t think they are set up for English speaking tourists.
Maybe if I had booked the king size room the experience would have been better.

The restaurant in the hotel ground floor was exceptional!
Breakfast they had a good variety on offer and plenty of it. The hotel is also in a great location.

After an amazing Japan experience for 2 weeks this was a total let down. Room size ridiculous ! So have a good look around I am sure there are better hotels on offer.

I booked through hotels.com and immediately realized I had booked for March 7 rather than the same night of February 7th. When I showed up at the hotel they refused to credit me any of the money I had already paid and charged me more than twice as much for a room that same night. They said there was nothing they could do and I had to talk to hotels.com. When I spoke to hotels.com they contacted the hotel and stated the hotel refused to refund any of the money I paid for the night I would not be staying.

Lesson 1: tripe check my dates
Lesson2: don't book through hotels.com as it allows both parties to take no responsibility for dealing with customer service issues
Lesson 3: Mystays will take your money for a service that you cannot use and happily double charge you for one nights stay.

I should have gone to a different hotel but we had a lot of luggage (Skis) and limited time.

Room Tip: Our Room faced a wall outside. You may want to ask for a view.

Hotel is just 3mins walk from Sapporo mrt. Across the street, there is underpass connecting to Sapporo mrt it stretches until JR tower, Esta mall.
There are 5 malls in Sapporo station, alot of food available and underground mall shopping.

Coin laundry, vendo machines are available.
Just across the hotel, Kushidori yakitori is there. One of the recommended yakitori around the area.

Room is small (but that’s room standard in Japan). Love the memory pillow and bed is comfy.

If the hotel management is reading this, can you please tell me the brand of the memory pillow? :)
