The restaurant which is located just next to a big shopping center on Ul. Vavilova serves nicely-made Korean food. Unfortunately, there is just a limited number of North Korean drinks, including Pyoengyang soju (vodka), two more liquors, and North Korean mineral water. Unfortunately, many other drinks are either western soft drinks, or Russian/Japanese beer.
The restaurant has some North Korean atmosphere (uniformed waitresses) and some (mildly socialist) paintings. A single flat-screen TV in the restaurant showed North Korean music about the 'beloved leader Kim Jong Un' - with a rather nice band performing this.
Eating out at the Koryo Phenyan is a pleasant experience -- but not as different from other Korean/Asian restaurants as you might expect.
