Let's get it straight to the point. If you want to go to a buffet feast and you're on a tight budget, then The Food Club on Macapagal is the answer. Although we are that there are much cheaper buffet restaurants around, you'll get disappointed in the end, as you will be served with a limited selection of 'cold' food, poor customer service, an ambiance not so appetizing, and hidden charges.
The Food Club seems like a mid to upper scale buffet restaurant and through some booking websites (travelbook.ph; eatigo), you can get additional discounts and enjoy its food at very affordable prices (cheapest is 420 or less for senior citizens).
For 420 to 480 (weekday lunch) you can enjoy a good selection of food, from Japanese, Indian, Filipino, Western, to Chinese among others. My personal favorite is their fresh shrimps and crubs. You can get as many as you want (but be decent and sensitive to others) and have them cooked at the grill and cooking station. The last time that I visited this place (May, 2018) I had both shrimps and yellow tuna cooked in tamarind stew. It was heaven. They also serve good tempura and a good variety of salad. After meal you can go straight to their fruit shake station to get a glass of fresh fruit juice or smoothie (pineapple and watermelon).
The ambiance is one of the reasons why we prefer The Food Club. First, it is located on Macapagal so you can enjoy some privacy and exclusivity of the place. On the outside, the restaurant doesn't look appealing with its square-shape architectural design. The inside looks like a four-star hotel lobby with comfortable chairs and couches and tables that can accommodate not only a small group of diners but even up to a dozen.
Customer service is also on point. If you are planning to use vouchers, better call them first to make a reservation as they limit the number of customers using vouchers nowadays. In some cases you need to print out all our vouchers for documentation and it's a hassle. Saturdays are always full. If you are celebrating your birthday, they sing a happy birthday song for you in a quite flabbergasting manner. It was fun but I somehow felt a bit uncomfortable.
