Midas Hotel and Casino along Roxas Blvd is one of those hotels that you need to avoid unless it's the only place in the area with a room left. Some reasons why you should avoid it:
(1) Old and smells musty. It's an old building so expect the smell of the 1970s
(2) Since it has a casino, it smells of smoke and the crowd can be questionable at times. Gamblers to be specific.
(3) Not a family environment hotel but more on the adult or older folks
(4) Bathroom fixtures are old and the grouts are moldy on some locationa
(5) Airconditioning is bad. Can get hot at night since you cannot set it below 20 degrees Celcius. Long overdue for replacement.
(6) The hallways leading to the rooms are dark and again, musty
(7) Cabinets, beds, furnitures, lampshades and sinks are old and broken.
Save your money and pick another hotel which are cheaper but probably newer than this museum-like hotel.

Transport yourself back in time to the 1970s. The Midas Hotel hasn't changed much at all in that time. The rooms are worn, and in need of a bit off TLC. However everything works and is functional, the beds comfortable, the plumbing works and is actually quite good. The service is good, - very good considering the price. The stand-out was the "cafe" which turns out to be an excellent buffet restaurant, and great value if you are staying at the hotel. My family thought it was better than the popular Vikings buffet restaurant, and it was considerably cheaper. If the owners invested a small amount of money to modernize this place they could easily charge double. If you can look past the 70s decor and minor scratches and dings this place is an absolute bargain. I'd be happy staying here a week.

Had a good night sleep. I wish though, that Midas will revert to its original breakfast menu. The personnel are very accommodating, however, I had an experience that when I check-in for 5 nights covering June 16 to 21, our key cards was not honored at the elevator on June 17 because the hotel receptionist was not able to tag our key cards for 5 days. Such was immediately acted upon raising our concern at the front desk.
