Is it worth the 1.5 to 2hrs wait?
Honestly not.
If I compare to a ikkoryu Fukuoka ramen there are few reasons that would make any reasonable human being wait at mendokoro.

The meat and seafood is better in mendokoro aswell as the quality of their ingredients.
Except from that there is no difference with the other ramen places.
Their noodle taste like regular cheap spaghetti from any european brand and the aroma of the soup are wasted by the excess cream and oil.
For the rest of their menu you get the same quality at Tienma's for cheaper and no queue.

Saturday. 10AM. Exactly one hour before the restaurant opened. I was first in line, waiting for my friends. Minutes later and it was like premier of Titanic at the cinemas in 1996. But seriously, there were probably over 40 people waiting before they accepted diners.

A little birdie told us that they have their daily OFF THE MENU offerings. I got the day’s first serving (out of about 10 they make available) of EBI TONKOTSU RAMEN. The richness of the soup was a symphony of flavors from the pork bone broth and the shrimp head. It was super rich and creamy. Topping it off with fresh prawns, crab meat, baby scallops and squid, it was just heavenly sinful! More than the dish being somewhat exclusive, the availability depends on the limited but selected quality ingredients of the day. Quite special!

The other off the menu hot picks were the SUPER CHASHU and GARLIC SHOYU RAMEN.

It certainly felt like having the sumptuous meal direct from the land of the rising sun! Out of 5 stars, I’d give them 6!!!!

This place is a few minutes walk from our apartment making it convenient for us. They give seating priority to seniors. That works for us since the line can be very long. Their ramen is comparable to good ramen that I have had in Japan. Like in Japan you pay as you order at the door. In Japan you would put money into a machine that gives you a slip of paper indicating your order. Here, you pay a cashier.

It isn’t very cheap but it’s good quality and worth it.

10-minute queue to pay for food and then 2.5 hours wait to get seated.

After paying, we walked to 121 to have a couple of drinks and some light snacks. We went back after an hour and we still had to wait for 1.5 hours. We ended up eating at almost 10pm.

We had tantanmen, shoyu, extra order of chashu, tamago and 5 pieces of gyoza. I overestimated our appetites. I ordered too much food for two. The ramen bar strictly prohibits take away orders and taking away leftovers but I thought it only applied for ramen - I was expecting I could take home some of the gyoza and chashu, I was extremely disappointed. I wanted to stuff my face with the ramen/chasu/gyoza :) We ended up leaving half a bowl of tantanmen because that was heavier than the rest.

My favorites were the shoyu ramen and gyoza. I would have wanted my gyoza a bit more seared though.

For next time, it's best to go and pay for your food, get a number and come back after two hours. Perhaps do some shopping or catch a movie.

My friends and my cousin recommend this restaurant, and so I wanted to give this a try! Like others who ate here, I give the food 5/5 ! Just the disadvantage here is the long queues.

I suggest that you go early night around 6 or 7pm where the queue isn't that long.
We ate around 8pm, and we had to wait for our turn before we were finally able to get a seat.
