Hotel Elizabeth Baguio City Philippines
June – July 2022
Location: If you want a hotel away from the city buzz (people and cars), then it is a better place than the hotels in the center. Mansion House, Wright Park, and Mines View, Philippine Treasures, Amare La Cusina, Volante, Shakeys etc. would be a walking distance,But our experience is that we had to take a taxi all the time just to get to places like restaurants and the SM mall or Porta Vaga or SPA. This is specially during the rainy season. If you have small children and old people with you then it is quite a challenge transporting them from point to point even if you have a private car. You will meet traffic along Pacdal circle and towards Leonard wood.
I feel that the prize for 2 rooms and 3 nights on a not peak season is very expensive to the quality of the room and the services they provide. They have old facilities from bathtub, bed covers, linens, pillowcases and towels. Cheap soap and toilet tissues. It is the first time we experience to run out of tissue. There are no complimentaries except for bottles of water.
Service: Not so friendly – in fairness maybe because of the masks – hard to see if they are smiling or not.
Cleanliness: Like any other exclusive hotel or the like, they have this post on “saving the earth or environment, through reuse” etc. In this light you have to call inn if you want your room to be made. Or if you are running low on tissue. We did not call the first day. but the second day we did and this is by phone and personally telling the concerge when we left our rooms. This was nonetheless neglected. We had to call inn again and so they had to do it all (vacuuming and all) when we were supposed to be resting.
Food: Bread is old – I can tell by the smell and the texture – very dry. The pancakes are cold and dry – they are almost curling on their sides. They do not know what is a bread knife or butter knife, They claim to cater both local and international tourists, but they set the tables with just knife and spoon (so it is hard to spread the butter over the bread). The butter is hard like rock!
They served ginisang “ corn beef” the next day they have corned beef pate – which makes me think that they recycled the left overs for the next day into another dish.
Cold fried rice. There is no variety. The fruit – pineapple and melon – cut into chunks – no style or taste in presentation.
